This poll might of been done before, here. I know its been done everywhere else :D

My favourite is Raised On Radio. Awesome vocals, awesome guitar, and awesome album for 1986 (considering what was in the charts in the UK, USA, and Australia back then) this album was pretty good.

:)

Me too. That was my very first Journey album and still is my favorite today. Mostly for the memories that came with each song during that time.

Nice to see Gens getting so much love.

Frontiers is, was, and will always be my favorite. It's one of those albums that I never need actually put on again, I can play it in my head note for note (now if I could do that with actual instruments I'd be on to something.) Most of their albums are 8s, 9s, or 10s in my book anyway. The only ones who dip below for me would be Raised On Radio (although I start to think more and more that the singles from that album are among their very best) and Next ("Here We Are" - WTF?)

Not that this was the idea, but my top 5 would probably be rounded out like this:
2)Escape
3)Departure
4)Journey
5)Generations (no I'm not bandwagon-jumping or whatever, this is the first new album I've listened to over and over and over again by anyone in a damn long time.)

It´s a tie between Escape and Infinity, but since Infinity was the door into the world of Journey for me,I will pick that album this time....but next time maybe I will go for Escape. :-)

Generations has officially supplanted ROR on my list.

Red, you mean ROR was your favorite, but now Generations is? Man, that's a big swing into the opposite direction. I can see someone saying Frontiers was their favorite but now Gens is, but ROR fans don't normally take to Generations, do they?

Indeedio, JH.
In fact, I think Andrew and myself are the only non-loons here who have ROR in our top 3. You're right about TFF Everybody Loves A Happy Ending too. I just relistened to that thing the other day and like 1 maybe 2 songs on it. Raul DESTROYS it.

It's at the bottom of my top 3 - Being Frontiers, Escape, and Raised on Radio. There's too much genius on the album to completely write it off the way some do, and stuff like Eyes of A Woman, Street of Broken Dreams, and Girl Can't Help It are some of Journey's best work ever (sorry, Ross).

Still I think Sowing The Seeds is TFF's grand masterpiece. Would have liked to have seen them on this tour, I think they played Wolf Trap 3 days after Journey but it was a Wednesday night or something so there was no way I could have gone.

What is the name of that damned song...Is it "Could Have Been You"? I don't know. Shit, I don't remember the words to a quarter of the songs I'm singing anyways...

ICHBY is one of the best tracks on the record, dude. Agree.
Neal's a house aflame. A subtle house aflame, but a house aflame no less.
YES, YES The SOBD IS a lyric in the tune. Just realized it now. Good call

I sort of agree, but not wholeheartedly..sound like Kerry huh?

Frontiers had everything..rock, hard rock, ballads, and mid tempos; and also the worst ever Journey song too.

However, as I listen to live Place in Your Heart, Jesus Christ, I fucking dig the holy shit out that goddamned record(sorry Eric, was that too blasphemus?).....

Generations for me.

Problem is, see, that is ONE song out of 12.
There is a serious dearth of 'A' grade material on 'Generations'.
Both albums have their eccentricities; 'Frontiers' has songs like Rubicon, Frontiers, and Troubled Child.
'Generations' has songs like Gone Crazy, Believe, In Self Defense.
All of these songs feel like 'B' sides to me.
'Frontiers' counters its offbeat eccentricities with more mainstream fare (i.e. Faithfully, After the Fall, Separate Ways, Send her My Love etc.)
This is where 'Generations' falls short. Needed one or two more traditional melodic tunes.
Both records have their strong points, but 'Frontiers' simply has more of them.

I love Troubled Child. I think it is one of their most underrated songs.

I would grade Frontiers this way:

SW - A+
SHML - A+
CR - A
ATF - C+
Faithfully - B
EOTB - A
TC - A
BT - F
Frontiers - C
Rubicon - C

1. Faith In The Heartland - A
2. The Place In Your Heart - A+
3. A Better Life - A
4. Every Generation - B
5. Butterfly (She Flies Alone) - C+
6. Believe - C
7. Knowing That You Love Me - B-
8. Out of Harms Way - A+
9. In Self-Defense - A
10. Better Together - D
11. Gone Crazy - B
12. Beyond The Clouds - B
13. Never Too Late (remixed) - B

Not too shabby. Rates better than Frontiers.

unless TNC grades it..then of course Believe fails, and it's shot down..

1.Separate Ways - A+
2.Send Her My Love - A+

5.Faithfully - A
6.Edge of the Blade - A
7.Troubled Child - B-
8.Back Talk - C-
9.Frontiers - B+
10.Rubicon - B+

I also think track listing is a huge factor.
With a slight track re-arrangement 'Generations' would be a much stronger album. Grade-wise they aren't so different, but I just find 'Frontiers' the more palatable album to listen to.
