Ok, I'm open to criticism, but can someone enlighten me as to how one is to view the Generations EPK?

It should play when you put it into your cd/dvd drive of your computer. If it does not play follow the steps:

1. right click start
2. pick explore
3. go to the drive the cd is in
4. double click [or open] the Journey_ECD.exe file

now.. if you are on a Mac I don't have a clue

I guess your system must be different. All I had to do was put the cd in my cd/dvd drive and the Generations EPK menu came up by itself with the option to "quit" or "Play Gens. EPK"

No go. Most enhanced CDs automatically start for me. When I hit explore it only shows the 13 audio tracks. Maybe I've got a lemon. Figures.

Which version do you have? Sanctuary, Frontiers or King?
