OT - I'm stumped: What is this song....

....and who sings it??

(Yes, I know I could just do a "search" on it - but, I just want to see how good your "Music History" is )

Our bassist put together a compilation CD titled, "The State of Rock, Part One - 1980". It includes Rush "Spriit of Radio", Journey "Someday Soon",
Yes "Camera", Van Halen "Everybody Wants Some", Judas Priest "Livin' After Midnight", and REO Speedwagon "Don't Let Her Go" (I think that's what it's called).

No liner notes; no cover...those are the songs I recognized out of the 11.

So, the year is 1980...there's a very "Journeyesque" song on there, complete with high, angelic multi-track harmonies within the chorus....and the chorus goes like this:

"Shan-dy,
Tonight must last us forever...
(ooh ooh)

Forever:
We say good-night and go home
(ooh-ooh-oo-oo-oo-ooh)

But you know me very well,
And I know you,
You can tell me good night
(Say good-ni-iiiight...)

Say good ni-i-iiight....
When we should say good-bye
(Say good-by-yyyye...)

.....anyone? Andrew?

That song sucks..Pure and simple.

Secondly, It's "Don't Let Him Go" by the Speedwagon...They open their shows with it...except the ME tour when they used Ridin the Storm Out." Yeah, tell that to Father Eric..Image Pope is probably saying, "Katrina, get the Fuck outta here." I know Eric must have muttered a cuss word or 20 during katrina and her bitch sister Rita.

I always had a soft spot for that song, but then maybe I got issues. Unmasked is a weird, weird album for them. I always liked "Naked City" and "Tomorrow" too. What's wrong with me?

Funny how that reminds you of Journey. I always thought Paul Stanley had a very distinct voice.

"Fool For Your Loving" by Whitesnake would be a good choice for a 1980 CD.

What reminded me of Journey was the arrangement, the MAJOR HOOK within the Chorus, and the "angel choir" effect of the multi-tracking....reminded me of "you-know-who"

(And, it didn't help that "Someday Soon" followed this song).

IMO it sounds like something Journey would do in 1980, with Neal on front vox and Steve doing everything else...

Kiss, huh? Wow - sounds like "Kiss - Defanged"

Yep, the Speedwagon song is definitely Him. After all, he's a sweet talkin' stud. :D

I don't mind that Shandi song.
