OT FEMA SUCKS

Just thought I would share this, misery likes company and all that. But as a lot of you know I had to move because of hurricane Katrina back in Aug of 05. MY house was damaged, the towns I worked in DESTROYED (Long Beach, Pass Christian, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Pearlington, Kiln, Diamondhead), which means I had no job. We were lucky, we didn't lose everything, got back, after mold and ctc...about 65% of our belongings. House still needs work, and lost my car (only liability on it since I had finished paying for it).
But Fema said they would move us (we had to pay for the move since we had more than clothes on our back) put my family in a house for a year, since I lost my job and my wife her business we would get disaster unemployment, kids would get medical, food stamps, pay for college, utilities, etc......and would do this for a year, even had us sign a contract for a year.
First to be cut was food stamps, which I understood, with money coming in from unemployment put us over the amount. Next to go was medical, because I have a 401 k (which I still can do touch for 3 years, because I am not vested, so I have nothing right now, if I was to touch it), so the Kidney stone I just had, my kids doctor bills are adding up. Unemployment is not going to last as long as they said, understandable.
But the kick in the pants is now we have a month to find a place to live. FEMA is cutting off ALL Kitrina victims. So with no job, I have to find my family a place to live, pay deposit on rent and all utilities, pay to move again (last time was $800), find a new school again for my kids, and my college which I start Jan 17, if we can not find a place here. THAT is the kick in the face, we could have over come any of them, as long as we have a place to stay, but to take that away when you were told a year. All the attention as been on New Orleans, I have visited my home and my work place these past few months, and there are a lot of people who don't have a place for trailer, or family is too big. Or the area is just to messed up right now to have anyone there, but OUR government is going to do this.
Where is this going. I AM ASKING FOR SOMETHING...I am asking that you call, right, email anyone you know in office, and tell them about FEMA, how they are going against their word.
I will get by this, but there are 1000s of people out there (over 3500 in TN alone) who are a lot worse off than me, and the government is doing this to them too!!!!
My thing is if the government can not keep there word and help someone has they promised with a written agreement, should we pay off our bills as promised. Government is going to get in trouble, should anyone else-ERIC

Hey Eric,
I am going to forward this post on to our news station. There has been a lot of Katrina coverage (of course) and our state has become home to many Katrina victims as well. There may be some interest, and news might apply some pressure. Is it ok if I spell check your post?

Sure, just check my grammar and sentence structure too, and make sure I don't said like a raving lunatic

But GO FOR IT thanks-ERIC

Ok, I didn't check your sentance structure. After all, I am not the one who wrote this, it did not come from me. But I did fix a couple of things. I sent it to one station so far, I will hold off on sending out to others for a while to give my favorite station the "shot". But I think it is a good idea to send this story out to every news outlet available....

What?

You're correct 28. I was thinking of the press. They could really help.

You are also correct ERIC. You have to remain emotionless, although the situation is very emotional.

When I was at the WH, our FEMA department was excellent. We had disasters, and handled them perfectly.
The Los Angeles earthquake. This is a monumental problem which you cannot predict. FEMA was there within hours. A hurricane, which was predicted as early as 6 days prior to devestation, was met by the current administrations' FEMA with, "uh, the President is in Idaho, fishing. Can I take a message?"

I made a call for ya ERIC. Check your PM.
