My favourite is "Be Good To Yourself" guitar!

This always a good topic to drum up now and again. And I will end up coming in to divide it to short (usually mid-song) and long (usually outro) and studio, live, old, newer, etc.


The one that still does it for me and always has is the mid-song shorty in Stone In Love....don't even get me started on the outro guitar solo, and then really don't even get me started on the outro part (misses the mark on the mid-song one oddly enough) on the version on GHL (I guess it's now on the Houston DVD/CD).

End solo in "Can't Tame The Lion." Unfuckingreal.

Neal's solo at the tail-end of "I Can See It in Your Eyes".
Though he has come close, he has yet to rival it imo.
In fact, the whole song is just great.
If it was included on the US release of TBF, the album would be better for it.

Yeah, Neal really extends that one when playing live.

The entire song. he shreds, and plays a melodic tone.

I agree Jeremey, "Lion" is awesome.

However, my absolute FAVOURITE guitar song by Schon is "My Heart Will Go On." Simply awesome.

Studio Higher Place. Mid-Song phenomenal. Outro is stunning. Paired with Augeri's end-of-song vocal over that solo, i find it pretty fucking moving.

He kicks my ass in the middle of Remember Me.

Love the guitar end of It Could Have Been You.

Love the Positive Touch solo.


The outro extended solo on The Time actually has just shot straight to #1 for me.

Of course TPIYH has a couple GREAT ones in there as well as the ending.

If were talking about “shredding”, it would be Mystery Mountain. Lets also add La Raza Del Sol for all band members’ participation.

The beginning of OOHW, how even though it sounds barely like a guitar and more like a blackhawk chopper (by design) you still know EXACLTY who's behind that crazy riff.

I love the hellicopter riff!!

That riff is just like....."HOLY SHIT! WHAT is THAT?!?!"
And it fits perfect into the subject matter....

I like OOHW remains my favorite song off "Generations" and I think it just gets you from the get go with that riff!

How about "One More"? The ending solo just shreds.

There are so many. A few that come to mind today:

"He Will Understand" from HSAS - Neal is just flat out shredding at the end of that solo.

"World Gone Wild" - Neal doing a Satriani-esq solo

"Stone Free" Neal doing Hendrix proud.

So many more. What a great guitarist and all around musician.

PS: Honorable mention "Stars" from Hear N' Aid - Neal shining on a song featuring some of the greatest guitarest in the world. Also being recongnized by his peers on that one. Vivian Campbell at the time said he was more impressed by Neal's solo than anyone else.

Also, it doesn't have to be a solo to be shredding. Find any guitarist who's jaw won't hit the floor while trying to play "Dead or Alive" at the speed played on the Houston DVD.

Good point by Jeremy....far as shredding I like Can't Tame, WGW State Of Grace, and the new In Self Defense. Gone Crazy's got a good shred to it, as does just about anything on Worl Play. He can play amazing shred solos and awesome melodic solos.
