I was there--very humid in Dallas. Great show--the DVD wasn't long enough to include all the great stuff.

OMG! That must have been the thrill of a lifetime, Barb. Who impressed you the most?
James Taylor was SO good and looked so good, lol.
I wondered if Neal performed and what he played, as all that was on the dvd was him making that profound statement, a little part of just his quitar style without saying who the artist was. They didn't show the person, just the guiter and hands, but I recognized Neal's SSB and at the end I'm sure it was Neal playing the SSB when the credits were rolling. His name wasn't on the credits on the dvd at all.
I was sure he would do something with Santana.
Did Neal perform with someone and what did he play, Barb?

Neal opened the show on the main day. Randy Jackson was on bass which was cool to see. That set should have made the DVD, but I guess they couldn't fit everything on it. Steve Vai was great, Santana was good, I was loving Clapton, of course. There as a storm moving in so they cut short some stuff and Jeff Beck got shortened so that was a disappointment. The day prior there was some cool stuff also--Neal did an autograph signing for D'Addario strings. Styx did a set. Eric Johnson was great, Buddy Guy--lots of great guitarists. Very cool couple of days so I am very glad I got to see it live, even if it was roasting in Texas!

Thanks, Barb! It sounds as tho they should have made it a three disc pkg instead of just two.

Guess Neal's just NOT famous enough without Perry, right?

Silly bait--this show was definately not about Perry or even Journey. This was about guitarists and their body of work. Clapton didn't invite Perry and he would have been dreadfully out of place.
Clapton said when he was thinking of doing this event he sat down and wrote a list of the people he would like to hear play and to his surprise (no one else's, of course), they all agreed to show up. Many of the performers said what an honor it was to be invited.

I was just making a flippant reply to HOTSIE's "gee where was Neal on the dvd?" bait masquerading as sincerity.

What a rip using Neal's SSB audio and not showing him. I think there was one closeup of his hands earlier in the show. Was he credited anywhere on the video for the use of his performance?

Arbitrarily on the war path again, are we?
Red13JoePA was obviously being facetious.

LAWoman is correct here. HOTTSIE was first being antagonistic, and facetious, then 13 did likewise.
I saw the event on PBS.
I believe Neal opened the show. Now remember, this is the Cotton Bowl, a huge college football stadium that holds a good 75,000. When Neal opened the show I bet there wasn't 2,000 there...Too bad, because he was great.
LAWoman, correct me if I'm wrong, but Neal played the SSB and Voodoo Child right?

Actually 13, you weren't. HOTS was actually being the ass. She knew Neal only had a small part and wanted to rub your face in it. I knew that was her intent when she first posted.

I'm not keeping a scorecard as to who is on what "side". You have to do some serious reading between the lines to make something of the original post so why why bring Perry's name into it.
This place is really not worth reading or participating in anymore for the rare sliver of info; it's mainly a bunch of in-fighting and innuendo. Have at it, the 10 people who bother to come here--duke it out amongst yourselves!

I guess you can head over to that Bank that's chock full of information...Back Talk! There is just so much to learn from that site.
This is the BEST site because honesty is revered. If the truth hurts, so be it.
If you hurry, you might be able to catch the 14th Page of the Steve Augeri lovefest.
Good God Almighty.

I have an audio recording from Crossroads.
Just Voodoo Child and Third Stone From The Sun, 13 mins. long, no SSB though.
It's great, is that Jonathan Cain on keys?
Must have been great to see.
