Which current member could the band afford to lose.

Frankly, I enjoy this lineup just perfectly the way it is, however, if the unthinkable were to occur, which current member could the lineup afford to lose and yet still prevail?

My answer:
Ross (C'mon, that was obvious.)

Yeah, I voted Ross, too. But I could easily give up Jon if it were to get Gregg back!

I used to think that, too.
But nowadays I'm not so sure.
Jon's adds more of a melodic touch then Gregg does.

I don't like the question, because I think we need all of them, due the their chemistry.

The ONLY person I feel we CANNOT lose is Neal.

You could lose Ross. Pick up a bass player.
You could lose Deen. He is a good drummer but you can find another. His vocals though you couldn't lose(backup).
You could lose Augeri. If one HAD to go, I would pick Augeri. I am really disappointed in the boots I have of him lately.
Cain is tough. He is such a songwriting staple. He sings lead on about 4 or 5 songs.

You should have included Iriving/Barouck.

I disagree somewhat. The CasinoRama '05 boot that Eric kindly sent to me is the best Augeri's ever sung in his whole life. If you dislike how he sounded on this tour, then what did u think of him on tours of the past.
At least now he hits all the high notes.

Go listen to Just the Same Way on the Toronto boot. Ugh.

Did they even play that?
I thought they did 'Feeling that Way' and 'Anytime' instead.
Either way, Augeri sounds solid throughout the Toronto boot to me.

9th song.

There are others too.

Ross. Definitely Ross.

You can't afford to lose Augeri because without Augeri, we probably wouldn't have seen Generations. Remember how he got everyone moving to make a new CD?

Yeah, but they had a much more soulful sound when Rolie was there. ROCK with just a touch of Blues. Cain's outstanding, but I REALLY miss Rolie!

Exactly.
I was going to say to TNC 'why do we need a more melodic touch'?

I would say Augeri. They have to find someone as good as, or better than Perry, to lead them in the new direction they want. Please don't stone me. It's my honest opinion. They need someone unique and outstanding, as this is what is expected from Journey, by many of the fans, imo.

The problem is, there will NEVER be anyone as good as Perry, in this lifetime or last, or next.

They did.

Yeah, because a certain portion of Journey "fans" really would give someone other than UnPerry a chance.

Ahh, that's where you're wrong:
Kevin Chalfant is more then capable to carry the torch.

Fuck this.

I am going to say it.

We need Perry back. We need to re-unite, have one colossal tour, and end it. Because if a re-union tour does not happen, the Journey is over.

I would be shocked if they didn't announce Perry back in the band within 6 months. trust me on this.

If they could lose Steve Perry (which would of sounded obserd back in the 80's) - I feel they could lose Steve Augeri just the same way in 2005, and probably wouldn't jolt the music industry in the slightest, but it would most definetly hurt the fans.

I still think that they needed a Gabriel/Collins type of change. Both unique, great, but different.

I don't see another date from this lineup.

I see Perry back in 6 months. Anyone care to wager? Hell, I'll give you odds.

Call me crazy, HOTS, but I always thought Phil and Peter had similar voices.

:?:
Dude , what are you on. Perry is the voice of Rock, but Journey needs Perry for commercial susses, but not more musical success. I have been more than happy with Arrival and Generations (2nd fav JRNY cd). Perry may bring bugger audience, but Perry comes back, they are dead.
AS far as the boots, remember that is what they are boots. Perry and Augeri are both good and bad on boots.

I guess RD is heading over to the Perry board nowadays huh  -ERIC

Wow. I mention Perry in positive light, and now I am seen as a prophet.

"On your knees little Hottsie! Before me!" Hahaha

I could dig that.

Not to me, Noble. I like Gabriel better but Collins has a better stage presence. I don't think that they sound alike. jmho

ERIC, you know I love you, but let me say it like this......

The book you're reading? It's missing a very important chapter. And I have that chapter, and no one else does.

Is that a hint or what?
