Which Perry solo song is so good that you secretly wish it would've found it's way onto a Journey album?
-For me: None.
Perry's solo stuff is ok for what it is, but none of his solo work (in it's present form) reaches Journey standards.
What does anyone else think?
I know Drew is a big fan of "You Better Wait", perhaps he would've liked to have seen that on a Journey disk.

Probably Foolish Heart. Good tune though I hate ballads.
I think the Cain collaboration with some Schon guitars could've conjured another Faithfully or Open Arms. Pretty big hit as it was....

Forever Right or Wrong felt like a Journey song to me.

See, that's where it gets kinda "grey area" for me....because Journey DID perform "Oh Sherrie" at the ROR show in Hartford in 1986.
So, in a way, by "default", it WAS a "Journey song" that night

I think "Listen to Your Heart" sounds like a Journey tune.

NONE!! Most of his recent solo stuff is too dark and moody, and doesn't belong on a Journey album.

Oh Sherry, You Better Wait, Captured By The Moment, Melody. There's alot of good solo songs he did. Anything he did was good - he wa such a good singer, it didn't matter what he did.

Hello everyone
For me I hear Journey in the song I Stand Alone.
When I hear it and see the video it reminds me
of When You Love A Woman off of Trial By Fire.

Does anybody know the names of the guys who played with Journey at one time or another....does the name Nigel Griffith ring a bell? I have been trying to track him down as saw him play over in the US when on holidays years ago and was told that he had done a spell with Journey
Thanks
Jan

Hey Jan.
I take it they have really good drugs over there in Scotland.
Who the fuck is Nigel Griffith? Sounds gay to me.

Good one!!!!! And I know he's not a band member but I thought that he was a session musician who had played with Jouney on a couple of tours many years ago over in the US? I was just hoping that one or two of you, having reached a certain mature age (!) may be able to go back to your memory banks and see if anything was dredged up from the grey matter to do with him. I'd be really grateful for any help you can give me. Thanks. Jan

PS. If none of you can help me - do you know where I may be able to find out which session musicians have played with them over the years? Thx again. Jan

Hi jazzlover,
I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but if no one can answer it here, you might try the Official Journey website at BalkTalk, maybe someone there could answer your question.

Other than the ROR Tour, Journey was not knon for using session musicians. There are no credits for session musicians, other than strings, on any album but ROR. And the guy you are looking for was not one of them that I am aware of.

You may be thinking of a film, The Heart Of The Journey" that Griffith had credits for, jazzlover.

Hi Journeyman28 - to my knowledge he was a drummer and a couple of the tracks on one of the albums (not accredited to him) were him playing drums. I just don't know how to find out when or if he might have played with them on a tour or two. Apparently it was when Steve Smith was with them (but I'm assuming that Steve didn't do all tours, for some reason). I would so appreciate any help that you can give, or anybody that you can put me in touch with who can help. Happy Saturday (nearly Sunday.....goddam!) Jan
