What Do You Think About a Journey/Def Leppard Tour?

Just curious what everyone's opinion on the 2 touring together? I've always felt DL's music was a little heavier, maybe their fan base a little more angry male? Would be a great way to get press for both bands, though.

I'm just thankful to find out they are not re-teaming with any of the usual suspects (i.e. Stynx, RIP Speedwagon, or anyone else from the corndog circuit).

I think it will give Neal a chance to "rock out" more. And I think it will probably get Journey some more attention, which is a good thing. But I do not like the pairing and it will definately shorten the playing time. I gave it a "whatever"...

Def just does noting for me. Vivan is the best thing about them, and doesn't rock out like he did in Dio. Journey could close, and I could get there late, and miss Def-ERIC

Umm - am I missing something obvious - but where was it confirmed that Journey is touring with the DL ? ?

Thx

Voted "whatever"

Not a big fan of DL.

Don't think dates have been announced officially, but this is happening.

I've always thought Journey's music is much more timeless than Def Leppards, and their fan base I don't think really crosses over that much. Journey was big about 5 years before DL's big heyday, so it's not like they were really contemporaries.

I do find it strange that Journey just doesn't take a year off. I don't get this constant need to drive themselves into the ground.

Funny, I was listening to Pyromania the other day, and my 13 year old was loving it. Seems timeless to us.

But I personally have no desire to see Journey again until they release a new CD, or if it turns out they are playing 6 or more songs from Genreations on the next tour. I don't need to hear the hits anymore.

I agree they have timeless songs, but I don't think their legacy overall stands up to time like Journey's does.

DL's Greatest Hits for Me:
Rock of Ages
Foolin'
Photograph
Hysteria

Most of their other "hits" I thought kind of sucked. Animal, Pour Some Suga On May, etc etc...

BTW NIG, TNC, any plans to come see one of our shows next month in your area? We got a Fri 2/24 in College Park and then Saturday in Arlington. Would love to meet you both.

Friday nights are tough, but my wife and I love to visit Old Towne Alexandria. Maybe we will have dinner there and catch your show that night. Let me know where it is and what time and I will keep you posted. :P

Disagree about the angry male fans, DL is maybe more pop--PSSOM/etc, synth drum sound--than Journey if you exclude a couple of Journey ballads. They could play the same venues the ME tour did but I'd vote no as we're back to a greatest hits tour basically. [/i]

Yeah, my wife likes Lep and hates Journey. I think Lep appeals to women more than Journey does.

A weird matchup. Metal and rock. I also don't see how touring with the Lepps would inject life into Jrny's show. If anything, it'll be another ME where they play 75-90 minutes of Gr Hts and 1 or 2 Augeri tunes.

The Foreigner double bill of a few years back made more sense. The ME made more sense, 3 like bands.

Don't get this at all. Get Survivor on the bill and let DL get its own set of dates.

I'm not touching that covers cd with a pole as long as the list of Reardon's alias', either.

Hate to tell you, but she loves Soul Sirkus too, except for some of Jeff's on stage gestures.

The only advantage I could see with DL is exposure to some who may not have seen Journey, Survivor wouldn't draw the same numbers but at least it would not be a co-headline/greatest hits situation.

Gesture during the "Jerking with pleasure" line, etc.

 stupid. that would get on my nerves for the sheer triteness.

Tails, that's what I'm saying with the Srvr thing. They should open for 30 minutes or so and Jrny should headline. Double headers or triple bills suck, b/c they don't tweak the setlist away from the annoying dozen.

I agree, I don't know that DL is going to expose enough new people to Journey for that to be a big advantage. And I for sure am not into greatest hits tours anymore.

My wife would never come here. She'd be more likely to visit the country music channel site!
