Neal and Sammy are workaholics, so I have no doubt both of those guys would have been great at anything else they decided to do.

Honestly, I think if Neal did not have music to focus his energies on, he would be a malcontent. He has no education and he has a temper. I also think he was probably pretty self-centered even as a child...

I disagree. I think he would be more like a rapscallion.

Gotta channel that energy somehow.

Possibly Neal would be servicing pepper and sausage sandwiches at Bayside NJ....But that's like speculating what Cindy Crawford would be doing if she was born looking like Baby Huey, or what would Jerry Seinfeld be doing if he was born with no sense of humor ("So what's the deal with paper? I mean, come on, do you write on it? or is it something you use to make airplanes with? I mean, who makes these things?!")...
In other words, Neal is who is is completely, you can't speculate how one person would end up by removing their most significant trait!

Sure you can.
George W Bush was an "Businessman." He ran all three companies into the ground, traded Sammy Freaking Sosa, and now runs the entire country, let alone the planet.
He continued on with running things into the ground. Have you seen the sorry assed shape this once great place is in?

I think it's fairly simple...
If Neal wasn't playing guitar, he'd be miserable and broke....and married about 6 fewer times.

But Monker, Neal
does play guitar and lately he does sound increasingly miserable and broke (300 grand in the hole. Anyone?).

Horseshit. Journey made 20 million this tour. He has more bank than God. A beautiful wife, and us fans

By his own admission, SS set him back 300 K.
I didn't make that up.

I know SS did set him back half a mill, but Journey rescued him. I was talking Schons total Bank account, not breaking down the bands.
A "bad" Journey makes more than a "stellar" SoulSirkus.

Yeah, it's no wonder they stayed on the road so long this tour.
They would play sometimes 3-4 nights a row.
That's taxing.

and some of the shows they didn;t even stay overnite. They came in
to the venue late in the afternoon and left right after
the show was over for the next city

The money lost on SS and possibly even Neal's share of the money made by Journey on tour last year are likely a drop in the bucket as compared to what Neal has made from Nocturne alone, not to mention royalties. Of course his shares in the company may have been divided with a couple of ex's, but its doubtful Neal is hurting for money. I doubt losing that much on SS hurt him that badly, not that he'd want to loose that much again.

Deano, I take this to mean you feel that the current Journey is a bad one.
Regardless of whatever has changed your opinion of SA and Journey, they are still the same band and they still sound the same live as they did a few months ago when I believe you thought they were a great band.

I thought you might be talking hypothetically "bad Journey" and "stellar Soul SirkUs" as I thought I recalled you saying some time ago that Journey had more talent than SS.

NMT, I did say that.
And in this thread, I was referring to a "limping Journey" being better than a "sprinting SS."

Ok, I see, no intention to admit that SS was a stellar band.
I've always been in the minority on that one. I still say I'd give the edge to Marco and Virgil, Neal is Neal of course, but I guess you could talk about the while and the sum of the parts.
