Any Way You Want It

Postby Abitaman » Sun Mar 19, 2006 7:21 am

We have talked about this before, about how certain songs sound good live and some don't. If I remember right, Any Way You Want It was just about on everyone list of sounding bad live. Didn't matter if Perry or Augeri was singing it, it sucked!!!!!!NOT NO MORE, I got a boot in a few weeks ago, and just got around to listening to it yesterday. It is on the Generations tour boot Live at Casino Rama, Ontario 8/24/05. They nail it nothing but great!
So I know you can't argue or agree with me without hearing it, so email me at abitaman205@yahoo.com and I'll email in back to you in mp3 or wma format. Let me know what you think-ERIC

Yeah, it was good.

Now the real question is: Where the hell can I get the rest of the concert?

Funniest analogy of "tight" I ever heard was Steven Tyler talking about the first time he heard Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton play in the Jam Band. He described them as being "tighter than a crab's asshole during mating season."

I have never liked AWYWI live. But this is the first version I have liked, and they did a good job-ERIC

I think this song might be the absolute best crowd favourite...I disagree with all of you.

I have a boot, Live at the Spectrum, and Perry sings it completely different and it blows current rendition away,.

best boot I have from Journey

Not a big fan of AWYWI- studio or live. I just think it is a lame song lyrically; however, played live it has good energy. The only thing I like about the song is Neal's guitar.

You people are deaf.

That song has many scales to it..both up and down, yes, Schon plays it great. The harmony is tough, especially the opening start. The drum synch in the middle of the song, and to hear Perry sing it the way I just heard, is amazing.. Plus, the crowd gets to sing the echo, "all night" and "hold tight."

The 2001 dvd comes close to nailing it but I've yet to hear a version that's been "nailed"live. Any era. I'd like them to stick to the "AWYWI TTWYNI" parts exactly like the record and they never seem to... they come close on those parts on 01 dvd but fall short then Cain's intrusive key parts on that show ensure that it won't be nailed. Subtlety is the word of the day for keys on that song, and Rolie did that.
