Show for charity

We had offered Journey $250,000.00 to do a one night show for the Barry Stokes foundation, with proceeds to go to The Make A Wish Foundation, The Eastern Michigan Food Bank and other Michigan charities. The show was to be one week before the U.S. tour with Def Leppard. They also were offered the arena for the whole week to practice for the up coming tour. They refused the offer. So sad.

I am sorry to hear that but I am sure they have their reasons. Journey is known for doing charity work so it is not that they are uncaring. It might have had to do with scheduling. While it is one week before the start of the Lep Tour, they are also going to be in Europe for part of June before that.

Not that I don't believe you, but is there any way you can tell us which entity you speak of?
28, who the Hell would refuse this offer? They have to rehearse before going on tour(unless they are playing the hits only, and no, they can do that in their sleep).
This only fuels my thought that this tour still is up in the air.

The person who has built an online shrine to Perry is telling me not to be a follower? That's great. Mofo, you are a grown woman. Why don't you leave the teeny bopper myspace stalker sites to the pre-pubescents?

Don't try to get your jollies by trying to get somone to post something negative about Journey. That poster is full of shit. Use your brain. What charity is going to pay Journey a quarter million dollars to play one show?

Well, I don't think that number is all that out of line. Ya know what that tells ya? That the charity organizers felt it was worth it to pay Journey that kind of money because they knew they would recoup their expenses easily.

You are right for once, who would pay 250 thousand to Journey
unless they wanted Perry to sing and the foundation found out
Perry was no longer in the band. Therefore Neal would have
no choice but to refuse.

Barry Stokes is a 10 year NFL Vet. Last season he played with the Atlanta Falcons as an offensive tackle. This year he signes a 3 year deal with the Detroit Lions. Barry is from Michigan and every year has a huge golf outing/Vegas Night with all proceeds going to Michigan charities. Player such as Eli Manning from the NFL to Darren McCarty from the Nhl attend. The first night is a Vegas night, the second being a golf outing and concert. Last years concert was Tiles a detroit band and also Grinder, Darren McCarty's band. This year Barry is a detroit Lion we have Sponsors knocking down the door to cover expenses that Barry always pays for. Barry's agent was in touch with the Journey people for about a month, First they asked for $110,000.00, Then it went to 150,000.00 then they wanted Leppard to be involved so it went to $250,000.00, then they wanted the Perani arena in Flint Mi. for an extra week to practice befor the US tour and we agreed to all of this. After some debate Journey decided to pass. We are looking at some other Main acts but in June they are hard to find.

Try to talk Steve Perry into guesting with Aerosmith for a ONE NIGHT SPECIAL, for charity.
Hey! If Sting can sing "My Funny Valentine," and Anka can make Rock, Swing, I'm sure Perry can pull off some Journey Hits with the help of Aerosmith.

Now that would be REALLY GREAT to see Perry singing with Aerosmith. I bet you Aerosmith & Perry performing together would make it an INCREDIBLE show!!!

Well unfortunately, Journey made Augeri their choice singer, and Journey doesn't want to do the charity for whatever reasons, so with that said, I think it would be REALLY cool to see Perry perform together with Aerosmith. It would be a fantastic show!!!

Apparently, it seems Journey is the one who "couldn't handle it", they are the ones who turned down the charity event.
