So I'm finally getting around to listening to this cd...from what i can tell it sounds like there are a ton of digital edits, and fixes. Some of the stuff came from the Escape tour, and a few from the Frontiers tour. Surprisingly, the mix on the Frontiers stuff sounds pretty good (much better than the boots I've heard from Oklahoma, Japan, and 'FILLADELPHA!!', particularly the overly gated drum sounds...) but according to the liner notes, some of these shows were used...hence the boots must simply be a rough or dirty mix...

In any event, upon further examination, on many of the songs Perry can be heard referencing "Houston" - But they are not from the show that ended up becoming the DVD (The exception here is Wheel in the Sky, which is from this show, but with severe edits). I'm wondering if perhaps these are from the same performance that "Party's Over" came from, on the DVD. If so, I have the sneaky suspicion we may have upwards of 5 tracks from this show (Perry references houston about 4 times on this CD).

If anyone knows for sure...that would be cool. I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere before - but then I'm always catching up.

There were 2 Houston shows. One was video taped and one was only audio taped. It is very likely that some of the GH songs were taken from both shows. For instance, The Party's Over was audio taped, but not video taped because they only performed that song for one show, not both.

Yes, the liner notes of GHL indicate that some of the Houston tracks were from 11/5/81 whereas the DVD and CD in the new package are entirely from the 6th.
Here's a little clue i've been able to pick up on: Who's Crying Now the new dvd/cd (6th) and the GHI dvd (6th) all have the "You know what I'm talking about, HousTTTTTTEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNN!!!!" quote with the drawn out second sylable in "houston."

You can tell the GHL version of the song is from the 5th b/c the word just comes out, "You know what I'm talking about, Houston!"

I happen to really dig the GHL live cd...a lot of people trash it. I think Deano literally said he threw it out when he picked up the dvd with the cd of the full concert from 11/6.

No dude. The best ever live SW is from "Live from the Spectrum 1986." Incredible. After the Fall was done the best on JFK Stadium 1983. Trust me. GHL sucks.

Echh....Didn't like the JFK version, Perry ducked the high note in the bridge and it seemed a little fast....Gotta say the version from GHL was better. JFK had amazing versions of Edge of the Blade, Send Her My Love, Still They Ride, and Faithfully....The rest was okay....Got to send you that re-EQ'd and tracked CD I told you about....Will get it out this week.
