Perry in 1986

For those who said Steve Perry "lost it" in 1986, I am offering this bootleg copy of Seperate Ways from the show at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA, 1986.

Now, we all know how tough this song is to sing. Even J-Bone said so, and he is a singer.

Here ya go. And 13, you are entitled to your own opinion, no matter how wrong it is.

And, for a bonus:

I know we all basically hate Open Arms..BUT..This version is amazing...Listen for Perry's adlibbing in the middle of the song...Incredible. I want this fucker back.

Everything they played during ROR was played WAY too fast and sloppy. Perry sounded good though.

I have these already. The whole show is great. I recall one guy on BT (years ago) claiming this to be the best version of Opem Arms Perry ever did. I won't go that far (as Perry did so many diff. ad-libs thru the years). However, with that said, it is pretty damn great.

Perry sounds amazing obviously. Separate Ways is way too fast. Hate the way Espee sings the chorus. Open Arms is perfect.

Thanks Deano for sharing....

Seperate ways is too fast
Too thin & light
Drums like tin and firecrackers
pop hiss sizzle fizz

It's monotone
Sorry that one doesn't cut it
Back up singing kills it..

Steve pulls it off in the end
Takes over the song
Brings it where it should go....

OOoh those last notes
fills my heart
I'll say it again
Steve is not just a singer
He is an experience
It's not just sound
It's an all around surround experience!!!!!

:P

If you mock what you don't understand
You only doom yourself to ignorance....

Not mocking you. Just don't care for your style. I like people who get to the point.

That's fine.
That is a good point
I accept that.
Sometimes its good to get from point A to point B
in a straight line

I however sometimes like to embellish
Take the scenic journey
Explore all the nuances
Taste and touch
Experience in ceremony
I try to make the ordinary something special.

Its good to get where you want to go
but it's also nice to enjoy getting there....

No offence, but if you want to take the scenic route, hop on a fuckin tour bus! Christ, I am fired up, and you slow me down with this Godamned poetry! Please, type like a regular person...Even the Loons type out sentences.

NIG:
I'm naturally high
I don't need drugs

Deano:
Slow you down
Maybe you need to slow down
Where are we all racing too?

To answer the question
There are no answers
For each answer begets another question
and it never ends until you have no questions
For then you are dead

Ooops there I go again
What's the point...

You know, I hear some geetar licks from Schon in this version of Open Arms that I'm not familiar with. Definitely the best version i've heard so far...

Fuck, I hate fake toy trains.

The Goddamned thing is English for one. A steam engine in 2006? Ever heard of diesel? And that gay whistle? Ever heard of airhorns?! And to top it off, what train has a smiling face on it's nose?

Fuck this pisses me off all to Hell.

Amazing. That's a perfect example of why Journey is the greatest band ever.

Separate Ways was way to fast...reminded me of Wheel in the Sky from the same era...Speedy Gonzalez on speed!

Although Im not a Open Arms fan....not bad, not bad at all!

Thanks Deano

Perry was definetely on "good coke" because dude was actually harmonizing the guitar parts too!

Open Arms has an entirely new sound with this one.

Hey, feel free to mix in some swear words, a criticism, a personal atack, and finish off with some hatred and you are all set.
