This forum...The End...(Updated)

Updating my earlier decision to close this forum - for the second time.

It really has outlived it's usefulness.
The bitching, arguing, hatred and BS tossed around in here has in the minds of some given this site a bad name and hangs as a shameful black cloud over ALL those that used it.

When I get bitching e-mails from women complaining about how I support the abuse of women via allowing posts to remain unchecked on the forum, that's when I give up.

I seriously give up.

The continual bickering amongst all and the flagrant disregard for my requests to be polite lead me to the conclusion that running this forum simply wastes my time and energy and I'm done.


What you lot don't consdier is the fact that the behavious within this forum makes ME look bad.
I waste enough of my time moderrating this forum - and no I won't give that job to anyone else. This is my name on this site and I won't allow anyone else to make these kind of decisions.

So, I was saying that running this forum is a complete blight on my time which will be better served updating the site.

What also must be considered is the fact that running this forum costs me money - in bandwidth and time wasted babysitting it.

I don't have the patience to do this right now, so the forum remains closed.

One person asked why not just ban the bad users - well, that would be too many people...everyone needs to take a look at their behavior within this board.

That's it - I have said my piece...

ONE LAST WARNING - I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY DISCUSSION OF JOURNEY IN ANY OTHER FORUM - NOR WILL I TOLERATE ANY OF THE PERSONAL ISSUES BEING CARRRIED OVER INTO OTHER FORUMS OR PM's...

If I see this, those doing so will be axed instantly.

BTW - I was thinking about this last night. The ONLY off-board e-mail abuse I have recieved while running this forum has been from irate female Steve Perry fans.

I'm sure some of their issues were justified - but some of the abuse was over the top.
They really have a way with words...in any regard, everyone is to blame for the arguing and I'm sick of dealing with it.

I am a Steve Perry Fan.
I have never emailed you.

You cannot condem all Female Steve Perry Fans
because of the actions of some individuals who in this case were
female & Steve Perry fans.

I can sympathize with you Andrew, as you have been tolerant & patient.
I have moderated and I know how frustrating & time consuming
even one rivalry can be. If I were you I would have done the same thing.

I can sympathize with the female Steve Perry fan
who were discriminated against and took alot of personal abuse.
I can see why they could have reached out to you as Moderator to make this Journey Forum a place that every Journey Fan...Male or Female
Black or White...Straight or Gay could participate.
Ultimately the fate of this forum was held in our own hands...
so collectively there is no one to blame but ourselves.


I know Andrew has tried & I think each of us some more than others will have to share the blame.

I do however think there was progress. I think we began to realize we didn;t have to all go in the same direction. This world is a big place! Learn to live & let live. Respectfully given the opportunity to choose our own roads & be able to travel our own destiny and enjoy the Journey all the way!

I'm not condemming....and I can sympathize....and I certainly do not what to hear any further comment from others about those Perry fans.

Just stating that all off-board complaints came from one area. Those complaints arose from the over the top and unacceptable behaviour, abuse and language of a few on this board from the 'oposing side'.

What I would like to say is that I can see both sides and have tried to run the board stright down the middle with room for all.

But it is clearly not possible.

I never posted much but I lurked every single day. It's a shame. I got a lot of my Journey info from the regular posters because I can't stand the band's official site forum.

I'm a female Steve Perry fan.
I'm also a female Journey fan.

Why did you have to post these two posts for? It is bad enough that Andrew is closing this forum, possibly for good, because of posts like this. I know what I did was wrong, even tho I didn't hurl abuse at anyone, not like what you are doing now. Here you post just exactly what Andrew is tired of. I don't blame him at all. I support his decision. All you had to do was say something nice, say goodbye, and now you have spoiled this thread.

I have always enjoyed your site and as of late the forums. So much of the information I have received with regards to Journey has come from MR. I have found myself checking in for news on a daily basis. The interviews you published with the individual members of Journey were some of the most insightful and candid I have ever read, especially Deen's and Steve's. I would much rather have your energy spent on the exclusives you provide us rather than on moderating a forum that may reflect poorly on MR and yourself.

Just want to say thanks Andrew for all your time,patience and hard work.I'm from England so relied heavily on this site for any info on the band.Only posted a few times here(frightend to some times!) but checked it out every day.I visit other sites and its great the way everyone gets on(apart from the odd disagreement now and again)just like one big family!

I accept your decision. I am saddened, because part of the reason it is closed is the main reason it was so popular - no censorship. I know some of us took advantage of that right, and I apologize for my part in it. If the forum is ever open again, I will remember that we are not only posting under our username, but under your name as well, as you have let us know. That puts a new light on it for me. And if I ever post in another forum, I will remember that.

The question, dear NealIsGod, is can one respond without succumbing to the temptation of deploying the lowest common denominator? I think my response to Randall MacDougal above is benign enough, free of enough x-rated material, pure of any accusations of alternative lifestyles enough, for the owner and CEO of the site to let it pass.
Too many times people take (semi) confrontational posts way too personally and it just totally degenrates from there. when they could be face-to-face with the culprit in the street one day, not know that individual is their cyber antogonist and become the fastest of friends. It is not real life. Some say things in here they couldn't possibly say in a real environment. I think that those who accuse Andrew of being guilty of looking the other way on "abuse of women" (frigging LOL. Abuse on LINE?) know that he is the one and only mod of every interactive thing on his site and realize FULL WELL that he doesn't see half the so called bullying. They know full well the accusations are bogus but try to guilt Andrew anyway.
