Steve Perry is working with Kalodner again

Postby *Laura » Sat Apr 15, 2006 7:29 am

April 14th 2006

Q:"I'd like to thank you so much for producing Journey's LIVE IN HOUSTON 1981 ESCAPE TOUR DVD! Great sound and awesome performance from the band! Anything else planned for Journey and/or Steve Perry? Once again thanks and wish you a great 2006!

A:I'm glad you enjoy the Houston DVD. Right now Steve Perry and I are repackaging (with original packaging and artwork) and bringing up the masters to the state of the art CD standards for the entire Journey catalog and Steve's solo records. They should be released in the Summer and Fall of 2006."

Umm, am I the only one perfectly content with the state my Perry-solo and Journey cds are already in?
I won't buy this.
Could use a new dvd though.

Well the hell with that....

I KNOW there are a few Espee-solo videos floating around out there. Apparently, there's one for "Young Hearts Forever" - B&W, straight-on performance...most likely done in the same day as "You Better Wait" (same stage; same clothing, etc...) I saw it while on vacation in Cape Cod - a TV commercial for "The NEW Steve Perry solo album!!"

They played a snippet of it: the line, "I can live a lie, but I think I know better..."

To be honest...I'd rather see something like "Steve Perry Rarities: The Videos 95-05" come about.

To keep this "on topic", I totally agree with the above....heard that; BOUGHT that....

What a waste of time.

The last time they did that was just prior to the TBF release...Hey, maybe Perry will release an album to go alone with this...nah.

Shit, I already forked out for the '96 remasters....they still sound incredible.
Why not work on the threatened ROR tour show with JDK instead?

Thank you Shania, JDK, and of course Steve. I have the videos from FTLOSM on much copied VHS but they are wearing mighty thin. If these are part of the package JDK is talking about they're well worth the wait. He says CD though, not DVD, so I wonder if the videos will be part of it. If it is DVD, who knows, maybe the ROR footage is going to be included.

Are you speaking of releasing it to MTV in 81 or last years release.

Herbie absolutely was responsible for getting MTV involved. Guy was progressive, not dead like Assoff.

I can't stand azoff either but he's working with a band that will never be popular with the current line up. What do you do with a band that will never have a song on the radio again and that most people have forgotten about?

As much I despise Augeri, they are good enough to get on the radio. Fact is, they don't want to do TV, or radio. They don't want to put out a new CD. They are content with cashing in on the same shit. Hell, The BT Nation is so big, and travels so well, it's as if they are going to a Bowl Game every other day on the tour. Hell, if you add em up, they would have as many electoral college votes as Montana. Journey is manipulating their diehard fans and it makes me sick.

You mean to tell me TPIYH can't get on rock radio, but Devils and Dust by Springsteen, and that new shit Stones release can get on? Those songs are not that good, in fact they suck ass.

Actually, anything pre-TBF does sound like shit relative to what is out there today. I'd probably slowly replace what I have with these....but it is kinda ofa steal off the diehards thang in some respects

No. I said Devils and Dust doesn't deserve radio play. I believe no one in music can touch the talent of Bruce or the star power, yet at least I am honest to say that song didn't belong on the radio.

Devils and Dust is a great heartfelt, truthful CD. Very telling. How about those lyrics in Reno? ""Two hundred straight in, two-fifty up the ass" wow. I think he is talking about prostitution

The Rising? A musical, lyrical, and historical Masterpiece. The absolute best album I have ever heard.

Okay, this is a total rube question but for the life of me, I've tried and can't figure it out.

What's the big deal about Kalodner?

I know who he is, I know what he is, but in everything I read he sounds like such an overinflated jerk...maybe that's why he gets on so well with SP, I dunno.

He's had a lot of success but he certainly isn't the first or only guy in his line of work that can say that.

Must be that Uli Roth-meets-Jesus look he's got goin' on.

Hey Dean'o I was refering to the Live In Houston Journey DVD
and wasn't this the same show that MTV taped?
As far as Herbie goes he may very well have been responsible
for getting MTV involved but what I was getting at was his coment
made in the interview just recently when he took credit for the idea
of the Houston DVD....I just don't think I believe him is all I was saying.
