Journey Advertisement

I was listening to my local classic rock station this afternoon when, low and behold, an advertisement for the Journey/Def Lepard concert comes on (they will be here in the Tampa Bay area in July).
The only mention of Def Lepard was at the very end of the ad. And it basically stated "Journey with Def Lepard". The rest of it was Steve Perry era Journey singing DSB & LTS throughout.
Consequently,
Last night while I was cruising the tv channels, an ad for this same concert came on and it was footage of Steve Augeri singing with Journey.
I know this has been mentioned on this board before, but who is responsible for the ads?
Pretty poor PR in my opinion. Though I know who the singer for Journey is - it is definitely confusing listening to and see differing advertisements for this.

this is an interesting question because everytime the band's around my way the ads feature parts of the album versions of the classics mixed with current, real-life journey playing live usually the old stuff....
Seems like the stipulations are "you can infer that the crowd will hear the old songs, but you cannot infer it's going to be Perry singing them in fact you must feature a clip of the current lineup playing."
Er, or something like that.

Usually radio stations are responsible for the ads run for concerts. BUT Journey management is always interested in this kind of "misinformation" so if you have specific information about the radio station and time I can pass it along.

Oh, come on. Don't you have anything better to do?

Who do you pass it along to Jrnyman28? Hopefully not useless moderators at backtalk. They can even keep the website updated.

Well, I have some friends that will listen and tell the right people.
And I have complained about the website many times! They have their reasons, and most of it come from the band/management. However, just to be clear, the moderators of BT are not involved with the actual website design.

They talk like they do. The band needs to revamp that website. Keep it up to date and get rid of the back talk forum. It's always the same bullshit posts. A bunch of know it alls. A good example is jrnygeneration33( rich mayers) what an ass always has to have the last word and has threads locked. And he still posts. The majority of the moderators are too close to the posters. Good example is Rusty, he has his clique on McJourney's cafe and bar. What a waste of bandwith. I know for a fact Neal does not care for backtalk. I know he keeps it open to keep fans happy. I hope he reconsiders. The site needs to focus on the music not love threads. that's my 2 cents for now. Adios hasta manana.

No doubt that Back Talk has it's problem. I don't argue anything you said. I pretty much hate BTUI because they got rid of the Water Cooler to save bandwidth, and now BTUI is the new WC. It is difficult to have a differing opinion on the site and the mods don't have to say anything because other forum members will do it for them. But I think if Neal has a problem with it, than he and the guys should become more involved with it instead of shunning it.

Manarocks...You are absolutely correct.
Rich is a fucking know-it-all. He is an embarrassment. So is JMZDeen...He is flatout queer. He wanted to release butterflies when the band came out on stage. Fucking butterflies?~!! Dude, are you serious? Def leppard fans would boo Journey and it's ridiculous fans out of the arena. They are all such an embarrassment. "WOOHOO," "Let's hear it for Ross." and "Steve Augeri is the best." This is Romper Room stuff. Neal HAS TO BE embarrassed. My God, I would never ever want to be seen with ANY of those fucktards. I stole one of them away, and am working on more.
Now, about the people over there "taking up for the mods." To her credit, CJ does a pretty good job. I like her. However, these yapping yentas who stay at home and stuff their collective pieholes with pastry and coffee daily, and always have to say to people who aren't "cheerleaders" to go away, get a life, or pass da chocolate, these people burn the living shit out of me. I went in there with a pretty solid, clean take..Some yayhoo immediately started balling like a 9 year old with a pin in his finger...."Cj, Cj, get rid of this guy!" It is so ridiculous.
THIS board on the other hand, has a little more grit, and yes, some of it not always clean, however, most people here are smart and informed and I guarantee you that Monker, TNC, NIG, 13, 28 and even myself, know more about what's really happening than those those morons over there.
Dave, I don't know how you can say Journey Mgt. cares about radio misinformation...I have heard promos for journey with Perry on vox and also Augeri too. No one cares. Trust me, it isn't a big deal.

Not true. Mostly we get all our ads from the people promoting the concerts. Very rarely do we do our own, unless it's an additional ticket giveaway we are doing.

Right on Rock O Dean, I have no problem with Cj the top moderator she tries her best but she needs to have an open mind. The other mods like Sara, DeDee and Rusty totally suck. They are kiss asses to the posters.
BTUI totally sucks especially McJourney's "dance pole, another drink" come on get a real life. Yes I like this board alot. Let's keep it real and no fantasy crap.

BT is what it is. Why do you even want to be part of that "community"?

They need people like Dave28 to "keep it real (god help me for saying that but it's true)."

Thank you. I try to stay honest...I just have to do it within the BT confines.
As for Rich, lord knows he and I have had our goes! I admit that, of all the BT community, he is the one person I like the least.

Sorry, I was confusing the radio promos (DJ) with the promoter ad.

Well, I guess I should re-phrase and say they ACT interested. But I couldn't tell you if anything has ever happened based on the information given.
In fact, I think that is one of the real tragedies of BT. There are a lot of fans with a lot of great ideas. Some "seem" to have come to fruition. But you would never know if it had anything to do with fan information.
Remember that the entire "Prince CD giveaway" was discussed for a LONG time before Neal "saw what Prince was doing and thought it was a good idea". What BS. Neal takes credit for the idea when it was completely fan driven.
And the Promotion Forum is 100% useless because there is no input from Journey/management. The fans are simply spinning their wheels. It has boiled down to ideas how Journey can make more money by selling swag. THAT is not promotion. Journey really doesn't give a rat's ass about promoting themselves, their music, Steve and Deen...NOTHING. They tour, that's it!

I promise you that if the band doesn't care what's playing in their radio ads, at lease SONY cares, and I speak from first hand experience. Speaking of people with too much time on their hands.

Folks - Deano and MRock especially - this is NOT an outlet for BT bashing.
THAT's their forum and they have their rules.
THis is MY forum and one main rule is no personal attacks.
