Can anyone help me find Chicago's setlist for the May 9th show at Radio City Music Hall.

I'm seeing them this weekend, and am curious how much of their new album they'll be playing....

Are you serious?

If you are serious about Chicago's setlist and new album, then I will tell you about the article I read about Juice Newton over the weekend.

Chicago sucks.

Ok dude.

That hunk of a man Peter Cetera....I imagine him at mcDonalds in his soccer uniform throwing down ice creams singing to Amy Grant in his high pitched kevin Cronin wannabe voice.

Sorry, They used to be decent, but frankly now blow dongs.

I know that Einstien. However Eric referred to the 25 or to 6 to 4......so Peter was fair game.....

They are just a good club band.

More than a few. I don't like anything from the 80's, but there early stuff is the shit.

A few 'hits'? They are one of the most popular American pop bands EVER...What you say above is like saying the Beach Boys or the Eagles had 'a few hits'.

20 Top 10 hits, 5 Number One records, 5 gold singles, and more than 122,000,000 records sold worldwide.

That is even more success then Journey...and Chicago still has charting albums and doesn't have to give them away with a concert ticket.

The good old days with Chicago! Brings back a lot of memories from my younger years :D

I saw Chicago along with Earth, Wind & Fire 2 years ago. Amazing! The horn section just adds something to it.

Peace to all,

Rockn'deano:

You wanna drop mitts? :D

A good CLUB band? They averaged over 8k last year on tour.

You've had one too many skunky Molsons. Monker is right, they are one of the best selling bands ever.

I'm sure we can all look forward to a comparison to Bryan Adams soon!

Three generations from here has my vote. Chicago was/is an innovative band.

No. I am giving up. I am full of shit. My takes don't matter. You posted an OT about Chicago. I responded. Blunt, but frank and honest. This Journey board sucks now. You all can have it. Rockndeano is a dumbshit. He offends too many people...never makes sense, and is way over the top.
I will just join TNC on the sidelines away from this shit.

It's my own fault. I should have known better than to speak the truth, and go out on my own...should've buddied up with someone, but chose not to.

Chicago. Unbelievable. Fuckin' Chicago.

By the way, you want to compare Chicago with Adams band, I would love to. Adams is far more more talented than those choads.

I like the songs with Scheff doing lead vox. Look Away, a flagrant violation of the "no ballad" language in my personal contract, is my favorite Chicago song.

I assume it's JScheff covering all the Cetera parts now, right?

Yep.

Ya know, Deano may not want to hear this, but you could draw a lot of comparisons between Chicago and Journey. Both started off more "prog" or jam oriented. Both brought in a lead singer who took over the spotlight. Both then went down a path of balladry. Both were huge in the 80's. Both "lost" their lead singer yet continued on with a similarly voiced replacement.

yep

He used to cover all of Cetera's parts, but nowadays its shared between him and guitarist Keith Howland...who is a limp wristed player comapred to past Chicago guitarists Terry Kath and DaWayne Bailey IMHO.

Enjoy the show Eric, i'd love to see the band!

That's like comparing Neal Schon to Josh Ramos and Lincoln Brewster...

Terry Kath was someone Jimi Hendrix inlfuenced...but, I doubt Jimi would be very impressed with anybody replacing Terry Kath.

Very true, but Howland just has no personality or power in his playing though compared to ANY of the past guitarists the band have had and IMHO weakens the band's over all sound.

I think I read somewhere that Jimi Hendrix was very complimentary about Terry Kath's guitar abilities. I think it was in an old Guitar Player magazine. Or I could have heard it on the Chicago behind the music episode. So basically, Kath was good enough to impress Jimi Hendrix, and that says a lot!

I am a big Chicago fan as well. I like the old stuff, and I like the new stuff. The new album is pretty awesome... a tour-de-force of melodious / layered singing, ala some of that Journey/Queen Roy Thomas Baker work. Scheff sings his ass off. It's primarily ballad material, but I've always loved the three David Foster Chicago albums... and it's definitely in the same vein.

Lot's of talent in that band, and I think they constructed a really great album. I can listen to it and keep hearing new things. If you are a musician, it is full of great ideas and playing. I can hear the HEAVY usage of Antares Autotune on the album... it definitely sounds like it was recorded with Pro Tools. But it is great... I got it the first day it came out. Rare to be able to find an album like this out there nowadays.

I don't think he's been given the chance to really step up in the band. With so many accomplished musicians in the band... so many people who have something to contribute to the music... I think he got lost in the shuffle of this new album. The credits on it show that other guitarists "guested" on a lot of it, and I'm under the impression he only played on like 1/2 of it. I haven't read the liner notes for a few weeks, but I am not of the impression he had all that much of his songwriting on it.

I've been on Howland's website, and he has a few cds he's done on his own (there are samples there)where he really smokes on lead guitar. This guy has great guitar chops, and he has the ability to sing really well (I've heard his vocal version of IF YOU LEAVE ME NOW on the Live by Request DVD and it was pretty good), so he also has the talent to add a lot to the background vocals. His live playing is a bit restrained, but that's because he likes to remain faithful to the original songs. I'm glad he does that, because nobody wants to hear Yngwie Malmsteen-type shredding licks in this band.

In summary, we've only heard a fraction of what he's capable of in this band, and this may be because he chooses to be a team player.

In addition, to anybody that's interested, Howland did a notable guitar heavy track on their recent Christmas album that is worth seeking out!

Yes Andrew, when IT'S DESERVED. If you want me gon so bad so you can get your little Stevie Perry interview so be it.

It's a shame I am the only ONLY one here who speaks the fucking truth and doesn't succumb to the scared little political correctness bullshit.

Fuck it, please delete my account. Delete my name and delete every fucking thing thing you can think of.

You were sitting on a bomb and blew it.

Remember to always kiss Journey's ass, and you'll be ok.
