Why should a mumbling, grungey and quitter like this be a hero?

Easily the most overrated musician of all time. I like his stuff, but come on -- biggest rock and roll hero?

I'll say it right now.

Cobain was a depressed, angry loser. Fuck him. Oh no, he's dead. Must be a hero.

Hero's in music? Ok, whatever. Elvis was a hero. W/o him, we may never have seen great artists and bands. Mick Jaegger. Bruce, Lennon, McCartney, etc. Hell, Herbie Fucking Herbert is a hero.

Curt Cobain? Say that with a straight face. Jesus help us.

Or Steve Augeri! And if you for one second tell me Augeri is as talented or even half as talented as BA, we are no longer friends.

He's not. Only in the eyes of some poor misguided readers:

Kurt Cobain has been voted as the greatest rock 'n' roll hero of all time by readers of NME.

What kind of magazine is this?

I have always had a problem with anyone
being placed on cloud status mainly because
they gave up.
Cobain is no exception....him like Elvis owed it
to there children to make a better effort at slaying
their demons.
I find it sad.
No Hero's in my eye's take a life.

I agree with you, Deano. What an irrelevant poll/vote. Lionizing him is just pathetic.

NME is the opitome of musical snobery. The majority of their critics and readers are failed musicians and hung up on whats cool and hip rather than what's actually any good.

Pricks one and all!!
