Big Steve Augeri Interview

An exerpt:

"Steve: Oh yeah, I’ve had that, listen this has been the craziest year we’ve done, and by the end of the tour which is December 12th I believe, we’ll have done 80 shows and this is just ludicrous. So, I have had my share of good nights and bad nights, and I thank the fans for sitting through, you know, sweating the bad nights out with me as well as the good nights. But, you know what? We’ll live a another day and sing a another day."

The interview mostly sounded like an ad for the guy's book. But there was some interesting information about Steve and his singing.

The date's listed as May 2006, Joe. Although that was likely the posting date.

I saw that episode of Myth Busters which was talked about. What is interesting is that it does not takea lot of vocal talent to break a glass with an AMPLIFIED voice...with a little coaching, one of the Myth Buster guys could do it too...

Unamplified was a LOT harder. This guy did it - after about a dozen attemps...It took a LOT of volume, and perfectly matching the frequency of the glass...and they used a special wine glass.

At one point I had the feeling that the interview was about Jamie. Too much self-promotion. However, the discussion about voice issues was very interesting.
Thanks for posting it,Dave.

The excerpt below could be a good description of the other kind of LSD - Lead Singers Drama.
Unfortunatelly, every professional singer will go through this sooner or later.

SA: "[Getting back to the voice though],I have noticed over the 8 years though and I can tell you it probably has a great deal to do with the wear and tear of the road and it kinda speeds up the aging process or certainly takes a little toll on it, that I have developed a great deal more rasp, naturally, which I have a little less control over these days. It all depends on, and I know that I don’t have to tell you this, it depends on how you wake up in the morning, what you ate the night before, what you ate in the morning, if you’ve exercised or if you didn’t… There are so many factors, which I have come to learn and come to realize as I experience everyday, and get up and sing everyday. You don’t necessarily wake up with the same voice that you went to bed with the night before."
