Age-Old Live Album Question

Postby Red13JoePa » Wed May 17, 2006 11:58 pm

There must be so much recorded material from Journey right now off tours from '98 through '05.... I just don't see why whe don't have a full live record from the band since '98 (culled from the classic era anyway).

If you want to go a less expensive route, then do what Foreigner just did to get a live record out with their new lineup. A bare-bones "Extended Versions" through BMG. I can't believe there'd be any legalities that would preclude that, nor do I think the BMG, given that they embraced the the new Foreigner would turn journey away. You do that, you'd probably get a 10-song live album of the band covering classic material.
Or you put your own out through Sanctuary (?) or another label or through the site like they first did w/ Red13 and you can include Augie-era material... get through the atrophy, boyz.

The reason Foreigner did that is because they can.

If Journey was able to put out a live album over the last 8 years, I'm sure they would have.

I don't see the difference. Same situations. No set labels as far as I know, and if Journey's got a higher profile.
it's just sloth.

One difference.. the rumored "contract" that was signed when SP was removed.

Hm. Forgot. Still, I think he would grant them some further dispensation if they'd hit him up for it... Neal's talked about putting out a live album w/ this lineup but I guess it just becomes too much legaleeze.

BTW, Jesus when will that contract EXPIRE??? Is it binding for life?

I believe that contract will be around as long as the band is named Journey.
Any live album involving Perry-era songs would put a wide grin on that attorney’s grill.

Then I hope they don't do one. There are enough high quality boots floating around to keep me happy.
