or, "Have musicians officially run out of new & creative ideas?"

:?

I had the radio going today, while doing things around the house....and I've noticed a "trend" in music. Well, let me "clarify" this by stating that I listen to WKTU 103.5 out of NYC; of course not everyone can hear this (unless you are "aware" of it, and can listen online on your computer, if you're outside of the Tri-State area.)

Here's what they play:

1. Judy Torres' "Faithfully" DANCE track

2. STEVIE NICKS' guest appearance on her OWN SONG "Dreams" - now set to a "techno dance" beat.

3. Some other faceless ClubChick singing HEART'S "Alone"- (see #2 for how it sounds ), and

4. Faceless ClubChick #2 singing Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart"

WHAT is GOING ON??

Could it be:

A). The HAVE run out of ideas, or

B). The Artists have given them the "OK" for more than "Permission of Use": that they want a younger generation to know who they are and investigate the ORIGINAL version of these songs?

Thoughts, rants, discussions...?

The young generation rarely wonders who sings the original song.Hell, they don’t even know it’s a remix.
I believe this whole *trend* sucks. They are slaughtering genuine art.
To hell with dance, rap, techno and hip-hop.

Uh, Nora, uh, like, uh, change the channel or something?

That's a novel idea.

Oh, really?

Change it to WHAT?

Hearing Billy Joel's "Piano Man" for the Millionth time?

That's what it's like around here!! Nobody plays ANYthing new.

Personally, I like Dance music - ORIGINAL Dance music.

...but, when I hear them going into the "treacherous waters" of putting together a DANCE TRACK of "Classic Rock", that's when I throw a Yellow Flag...

Some marketing genius decided that if the song was a hit once, it can still be a hit when it is 'modernized'. And it is a major coo to land the original artist to aid in the re-recording. I am sure some of the artists think it is cool to have the younger generation re-doing their work. But more than likely it is an easy paycheck.

IIRC, Cain was happy about this ( the Faithfully remix)..He said something to the effect, "more change in my pocket."
