I just have to wonder....

...keeping this "on topic", BTW - since it IS about old/new Journey... 8)

Do other band-sites that had a change in personnel (ie, lead singer) have such "polarity" and/or "passion of conviction" as this one?

Rhetorically speaking, but if anybody has an answer, please chime in.

Discuss.

PS - Hey I'm now a "Janitor"!! WOO HOO 8)

Well, I know the Styx Board can get pretty heated. And they were definately pretty vicious a while back. But it seems they have found a way to accept each others ideals more and be more respectful to wach other.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the TNT situation and their fans...especially since Tony Mills has his share of built in fanbase to bring to it.

Van Halen has always been a unique situation with large camps on both sides of the fence.

I do not see the disparity among most other bands like Bad Company, Skid Row (There are some), Foreigner, Genesis, etc. Seems like most people just accept it.

But then how many of these bands has such a unique voice to replace?

BINGO!!

Thank you very much, Dave...

Well Freddie Mercury was certainly unique.

Things sometimes get pretty "out there" on the Queen boards regarding Paul Rodgers! I really don't know why to be honest, as the band have said repeatedly that replacing Freddie is like trying to replace the irreplacable and with the tour with Paul has billed it "Queen + Paul Rodgers" rather than just "Queen". This to me clearly states Rodgers as a guest vocalist...one which has done and absolute stellar job i might add, IMHO!

Having said the above, like here its always the usual suspects that stir up an argument and end up going round in circles arguing about subjects already gone over that neither party will EVER agree on!!

I suppose you could say that a good heated debate keeps the boards lively, but when its about the "same old same old" it quite frankly becomes irritating in the end.

Thank you, Paul_UK!

Yeah, I saw/listened to a recorded version of "Queen + Paul Rodgers" version of "We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions" and my God....he did an AWESOME job of "breathing new life" into an "old" song.

You really hit the nail on the head there, tragchk! Paul certainly does put a new angle on the songs which makes them sound refreshing. I'm neither syaing that the Rodgers versions are better or worse, just different.

For me, I think it works due to two factors, 1) as we said, Rodgers sings the songs in his own style without trying to carbon-copy the originals, and 2) the choice of songs they decided to play. As we all know Freddie was gay and Paul Rodgers was always very much the macho frontman!...Some of the more flamboyant songs of Queen's catelogue just wouldn't have worked, so they stuck to the more hard edge songs that suited Paul's voice.

The tour got rave reviews all over the globe which pretty much made the minority of "non-believers" on the Queen boards a non-entity (which seemed to piss them off all the more!!), and that's the way it is on this site. Journey continue to sell tickets and still seem very much in demand on the live circuit, despite what merely a handful of posters on this board has to say, and i'm sure that's the way it will continue.

And there it is, Dave28. The problem.

What, Dennis DeYoung didn't have a unique voice? AC/DC didn't have one? VH did as well. So did Queen.

WTF are you agreeing with 28 for? Stupid shit.

Hell, I would love to see a new thread about who replaces Fraudgeri. THAT would be good banter. Because, that is what should be happening.

Agreeing w/ Dave28 b/c he made a good point. You ought to try it sometime. It's tough for Augeri or anyone to fill Perry's spot. The fact that Augeri's done a great job aside.

Please don't ram your agenda into every thread, Dean. Like Andrew said, there are enough threads devoted to you... I mean it.

job in lead vocals for Journey.

Nora congrats lady good physical labour

completely domesticated :)

Agenda? no. I am saddened. I wish it were an agenda. It's simply a disgrace, and even more so that you two are blind not to see it.

Just keep it in the many threads already discussing it. No need to hijack every thread with it.

We just want to talk about Journey in other threads without being hammered with your agenda. Is that too much to ask?

It's not an fucking agenda dipshit. It's called debate. It's called truth. It's called facts. Maybe you should go over to BT with 13 and have a grand ol day patting yourselves on the back.

Maybe it's not a debate. You two have not brought up one ounce of debate. Just divert and post. That's all you have.

It's an agenda when it is all you talk about, you are obsessed with it, and you keep posting it in threads that aren't even discussing it. Seek help.

What else IS there to talk about? Seriously. A setlist? Are you kidding me? A fucking pre-recorded setlist? Jesus Christ. This is the story of the year on this Board or this site, and you want to talk about a pre-recorded setlist?

O Man, I wish Andrew would come in and speak on this topic. That would really open some eyes.

Seek help.

Naw, I am actually seeking an press outlet.

Is that what you really think? Well no wonder. I think you'd be surprised as all Hell if you knew what he thought.

This is ridiculous. I have been lurking here for long enough and have always refraned from posting because it seems as though new posters are not always welcome here. Dean you claim that people from BT won't own up to who they are, well you can find me posting there under the same user name as this.

You are entitled to your own opinion Dean, however, so is everyone else. If it disturbs you so much that people don't agree with you then maybe its time to take a step back. If you feel you want to seek out some press outlet to listen to your story, go for it. Walk away from this board and find someone who will believe you. Start your own site. But don't ruin this site for others. Just because you have turned your back on the band does not mean that everyone else has to.

Go ahead, call me names like you do everyone else....

Let's just dwell on this for a second. If Andrew thought this was something that threatened the band, and he values his relationship with the band, don't you think he would have told you to cease and desist, or just banned you (which I hope never happens, by the way)? He already told us that what is posted in this forum reflects on him, and if he had a problem with this, he would put a stop to it. And we all know that Journey is one of his favorite bands.
