Setlist This Year, 80 Min.:

Postby Red13JoePa » Mon May 29, 2006 10:23 pm

What would you template as a setlist for this year's tour, fit it into the 80 minute slot given. Try to give me what you think the should play for max effect given the time constraints and crowd on-hand and what your fantasy 80 minute setlist would look like....

Of course, I would personally pick a different setlist, but this would work for the mixed DL/Journey crowd of fans:

ESC4P3 (IMO, EVERY Journey concert should start with this)
Ask the Lonely
Be Good to Yourself
Stone in Love
Still They Ride (Deen on vox)
Feelin That Way/Anytime (Jon, Steve)
Faith in the Heartland
Lights
Wheel in the Sky
Out of Harm's Way
The Place in Your Heart

ENCORE
Separate Ways
AWYWI

If I have extra time, stick in Patiently with Deen on vox (a friggin' show stopper on the last tour) and Higher Place.

I'm sure it's already recorded and ready to go. Wouldn't shock me in the least.

8 of those songs are recorded, I'll tell you that right now.

Wait and see what happens this tour Deano....European shows are kicking off soon so I'm putting Abs and ArrivalRules on the boot lookouts....
(Holy shit, LaDoDa off Evolution Stage '79 playing right now.WOW. Read the title of that song and you'd never guess the assault you're in for when you hear it playing)...
My list SHOULD for the DL summer coheadlining tour:
AWYWI, Separate Ways, Keep On Running, Out Of Harm's Way, TPIYH, Stone In Love, WITS, In Self Defense, BGTY, Edge Of The Blade, Chain Reaction, FITH, LTS, DSB little heavy on the rock, but I think they could get away with it and by no means do I think they should go near Faithfully or OA every night during this tour.

My fantasy 80 minute list for when they take the stage at a waterfront bar on the bay in Somers Point, NJ one night as a suprise gig:
Of A Lifetime, SIL, Feeling That Way/Anytime, Homemade Love, Line Of Fire, WITS, SIL, Keep On Runnin, Frontiers, Rubicon, Positive Touch, It Could Have Been You, Once You Love Somebody, RM, HP, The Time, FITH, TPIYH.

So you want them to play SIL twice, and not play After the Fall?

I know "Where Were You" is still being played in rehersals. I want to here Out Of Harms Way, TPIYH, FITH, The Time, HP, and that leaves room for the dirty dozen. 12 more songs makes a total of 17, likely to be about 80 minutes of music!

HE'S not deperate for attention, but this needs the fans full attention...

A band that has a lead vocalist lip synch almost an entire song, must answer....the fans dont sit on their ass and get royalties whenever a Journey song plays on radio or sit in their backyards counting the money that drops off their money tree....they EARN their money the hard way and pay it to listen to a LIVE concert....

There is just that one glitch though with the problem that needs the fans' attention. Only 3-4 people (pending TNC risking life and limb and officially aligning himself w/ Deano, Free, Infinity and I guess you) actually said this is going on.

Might want to get actual proof, a few thousand more fans believing you guys and an admission by the bandm next.

That would be just going by the book, though.

Ha! GUess I just wanted to be sure I got SIL in there, but After The Fall would definately supplant the reprisal of SIL.. without question. Only quasi-ballad of the night at that little bar. Can't wait.

I'm tired of Escape and Ask the Lonely..wouldn't bother me in the least if they dropped these from the setlist...they aren't chart toppers!...I wish they could dump friggin' Open Arms too, BUT unfortunately they almost have to play that one. I really don't think the Def Leppard crowd would miss that one too much, anyway.

Why is there a time limit of 80mins? That's about what they had for Main Event...I would think they could do more.

I think Vivian Campbell said 80mins each.......I'm not sure why either, but I don't think they'll start as early as the Main Event tour

I think it´s time for this current line up of Journey to show everybody how they sound like today and leave the Perry years behind.
Why not throw in a couple of songs from the Tall Stories album as well that Augeri will do more justice to than the Perry stuff,so a setlist of songs from Arrival,Generations,Red 13 and Tall Stories would be great.
That´s the state of Journey in 2006.
1.Higher place (Arrival)
2.Faith in the heartland (Generations)
3.Place in your heart (Generations)
4.Never too late (Generations)
5.Signs of life (Arrival)
6.To be alive again (Arrival)
7.Wild on the run (Tall Stories)
8.A Better life (Generations)
9.No more lies (Schon Hammer)
10.Out of harms way (Generations)
11.State of grace (Red 13)
12.Chain of live (Tall Stories)
13.Remember me (Armageddon OST)
ENCORE:
14.We will meet again (Arrival)

Doesn´t look a too bad setlist to me!
Journey is not just a band,it´s a way of life!

Uh dude, do your homework. She NEVER has lip synched and has a very fine voice. If you think she has lipped, then YOU need to prove it; the onus is on you. That's insulting. I spent hundreds of hours proving my point. You people just throw out accusations. Nice try at diversion.

Pathetic.

More a question than an accusation though I am somewhat surprised that a seemingly manufactured artist like her would actually sing live. No time to conduct an investigation though. Got a life and can't devote hundreds of hours to that type of crusade.

Oh, so you have researched it and can say, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Shania Twain has NEVER lip synched? Have you seen her live?

Ok, so we are diverting to a Shania Twain thread? Ok, I'm game.

Yes, I have seen her live about 7 times. That wasn't the point. The point was, if someone is going to accuse an artist of faking it, he better have evidence and not just sling shit out there.

By the way, she can flatout sing, and is very talented on the guitar and co=writes her own stuff. hardly a manufacured artist.

Hey, my wife and I like her a lot. Just appeared she was lipping a bit on her TV special. Sometimes her mouth didn't move with the words. But that may have been so she sounded perfect on TV.

Funny,I’m listening to Shania's Chicago concert right now. :) Live as live can be.And she sings flawlessly.
NIG,that's true...For TV broadcasts it's got to be lipping for sound quality reasons.

Awesome performer is Shania! I managed to catch her the 3 times she visited the UK on tour, top class backing band too! However, although Shania is 100% live herself (no doubting that), ALL of the backing vocals (only!) were mimed by her band, that's very evident to me as its that trademark "Mutt" sound that's on the original recordings. I can live with taped backing vocals, but lead is a different matter all round.

I have to say that this passed week on this forum has truly saddened me.
