Look, I owe everyone here, and everyone who visited this site a sane, mature, well read example, not some heated, verbally insultive diatribe, of what and why I decided to do what I did.

First off, I want to say, I am a HUGE Journey fan, both past and present, and I mean that. I brought out this accusation because it bothered me. It saddened me. I love Neal Schon, and I love Jon Cain, BUT.............

Everyone that has been here for a year or more knows I have always respected Steve Perry. the finest male voice in music history, and no, that isn't debatable, and I also have liked Steve Augeri very much. In fact, if one is new here, and is watching this play out, they might want to read with caution, as I was hard, real hard on Perry in the last year. However, I was hard on his character, not his contribution to Journey, perhaps because at 40, I have had the privelidge to have seen him live....wow...

I have had Steve Augers' back ever since 1998, up until 2005. Last year, because I follow Journey closer than any other fan, and am not afraid to speak my mind, I noticed, as everyone else did, Steve Augeri having serios vocal issues. I went to Irvine, CA, opening night. He was awful. I did post a review on Backtalks' review page, saying he was great. He really was that bad though. Not only did i realize this, but Neal did too.....he is the one who said a doctor would be flying in to help out.

O boy, the hard part. I tried, really tried to bury this, but couldn't. After the first 5 or 7 shows, it's clear they had no other choice but to go to tape.....a choice I am sure they didn't want to do....Steve, I am not blaming you personally, well, I am, but read on.
Look, the Journey catalogue is NOT like singing Bryan Adams, Rush, U2 or Springsteen..it is much more difficult to sing, and I respect that. However, could they have been any more stupid? I figured it out in about 2 weeks! Kevin Elson, who is great at what he does, took it too lightly. He should of mixed up the tracks.......Oh no, we are getting into that ugly train ride again, aren't we?

I believe in what I wrote so much, I stand by it, in a legal sense. I would go to court with this info. Again though, I am a HUGE JOURNEY fan as well as a STEVE PERRY fan...there is NO correlation between the two!

To all of you I issue this statement: "I am sorry. Sorry how I conducted this whole thing. I am sorry for insulting, calling names, and chasing others off. I only wanted to give people a choice." I never thought it would end up like this. I never thought people would have the reaction they did. I should have heeded my own advice.

Backtalkers, I understand your anger. I want to say, I LOVE Journey, I really do. I just don't want "my band" ending up like the Monkees or Kiss" or some other has been. THIS is Journey! Act like it. Journey is better than Styx, REO, Boston, Van Halen, right?

Okay, here is the deal; I promised my girl that come Sunday, I would quit this (even though I don't want to), but she is the most important thing in my life, and I respect her more than God knows. My relationship has slipped since i began this crusade, and Journey isn't half to me what she is.

So, in closing, I ask this much. Folks, having worked in the White House, and it doesn't mean anything, I should have done it better, but I apologize on how I went about it. There was a better way.

This doesn't mean I didn't mean 100% of what I charged. I do, still. I just want to say this..............

There were no tour health issues in 2005 besides a late appendectomy. The occasional common cold and flu makes the rounds every year. Anyone who says they know otherwise just can’t see the forest for the trees. JRNY has worked their ass’ off for 8 years in sweltering heat, high humidity, frigid air conditioning, high pressure, and thin air. They’ve spent long days in airports, and cramped quarters. The difference in ’05 was the routine, and the routine only. The massively serious routine changed from previous tours, and corrected in quick fashion. The band went out there night after night, fought dehydration, fatigue, meet and cheats, yet still being the troopers that they are stepped up to the plate and performed to the highest standards giving 110% to every member of the JRNY family, plus the ticket buying public. Stevie Augeri was a trooper too, and forced to change his routine far and above the norm for the good of the band plus longtime fans such as ourselves. It couldn’t have been easy to get stage ready only to play guitar for an hour. Especially, considering he had no guitar tech. He did it, without complaint, adapted, and moved on. Not only did he adapt, he got stronger and stronger. Every single night the new became more - routine. What do you do when you get up in the morning? Coffee? Newspaper? Email? Lunch for the kids? Do ya feel just a bit off kilter if the routine changes? Have to adapt? What a superb, modern day talent Stevie is. He deserves, and reaps all success without excess.

By the second week of the ‘05 tour there were classic songs that many stated were the best versions of those classics ever performed. Generations numbers were overwhelmingly received. As much as the set list varied from Summer into Fall it’s impossible to pull off such a technically enhanced feat that is alleged here. It’s only alleged, and the theory is weak at its very core with no factual basis or foundation. Nice try on the “ear thingy’s” DBoy. They’re called portable stage monitors. If Kevin had a hand in overlaying anything new into a performance he’d have to wear a set of the “ear thingy’s” too so he could hear the click start back at the soundboard. He doesn’t wear them. Common sense is not to common. It takes no more than a classically trained basket weaver to hear nothing, simply file it in purgatory. Rest easy beams. Your hard earned money is not spent in vain.

Journey embarks on what will arguably be one of the most successful co-headlining rock tours in recent history. Only single tickets remain for many of the shows with sellouts galore a virtual lock. Embrace it, enjoy it remember it. Don’t let the sour bird brained agenda of one ruin it for you, your children, your spouse, mothers, and fathers. There’s never been a better time to be a JRNY fan. Generations is phenomenal, and not since Motown was viable has there been a more soulful collection of vocal masterpiece sprinkled on one record. The Dallas DVD is on the horizon and promises to be the ultimate for any Journey fan, young or old, and everybody sings! “Let them sing.”

Clean this place up, and make it a safe haven for everyone who wants to rejoice in the magic that is Journey. Build a community, not a cult. I decided to do it. I took up Dean's request to have a listen to what he was trying so hard to get across to everyone. I honestly went in to this with an open mind.

First of all the quality sucks. I went through the music for 40 minuets to try and hear the difference. I did this with a set of headphones. The first mix that he offers of Separate Ways with one in the left and one on the right is of very poor quality. Vocals on the left are much stronger than on the right and so therefore comparison to the one on the right is not fair.

Other suggestions that Ask The Lonely were tapes of one show and used at another for vocals only didn't make much sence here. All three downloads were of the same show. Clearly you hear this when he mentions Los Vegas. If you have proof that the songs are from each show that you use you have to do much better then this.

All you have offered as proof is this. Selections are from one commercial release (Journey 2001) and the others are from bootlegs. Bootlegs can not be offered as proof because we can not validate the source. With Journey standing in front of thousands upon thousands of fans where in most cases the edge of the stage is up close with the front row and large video screen showing the action up on stage I would like to think that it would have been noticed by now. If you say what you believe to be true is correct how did thousands miss it? I am sorry Dean but poor quality bootlegs offer no proof at all. If this were a court of law the evidence would not have a leg to stand on.

Now please don't say that because of who I am I heard what I wanted to. That would only make you seam like an ass because some people don't agree with you. I spent the time in a quit room with headphones on and played this over and over.

Sorry that I can not stand beside you on this one. As for the comment made by one poster on your blog site they said that they have a trained ear for music and hear what you were talking about. I find it funny that a poster who listened to the poor quality can hear that but the others who have that same quality who attend the live shows never picked up on it. I always thought that proof of lip sinking was seeing the performance live. The way you present it here is like putting the cart before the horse.

So Dean what more can you offer? I gave it the time you asked for and I can’t hear it. Sorry that is just the way it is. I would think your concern is of your use of bootlegs posted on an open forum. Did you receive permission?

Not really Craig. Opening night, they played eight of the songs. By week 2, they were down to 2 SA, 1 Ross, and 1 Jon. Gone Crazy was well received? Dude, the beer lines looked like Disneyland queue lines, they were so long.

Yes they do. I have only trashed Journey lately because of bullshit work ethic. It stinks to high heaven. And when I watch Steve Augeri in the Beacon DVD, acting, faking, and pretending to be emotional and heartfelt, all the while a tape is being played...I was sick. Screw Journey until they get their shit together.

Because something sure happened. This started out as an apology thread, but in a perfect illustration of "your heart's not really behind it", it didn't take you long to drag this one into depths so low I can't even see it.

What really really shocks me over these past few days is that I always held Lula in very high regard and I am still trying to metabolize why she would be even remotely involved with someone of your volatility and heartlessness. IMO, she deserves better, way better.

Yes I can. It's because I am a much better person than you are. I know that hurts but its true. I was wrong to jump on you without the proof but I was more upset at the way you were treating everyone. I am more of a man then you think I am. I really really listened. Now that I have, you doubt my findings. Let it go. I know when an issue is dead. We will never see eye to eye. I did the fair thing here. Why can't you?

For the record Dean I have always liked Lula. We have talked a few times by phone. I will never question the relationship you two have but I feel that because you hate so many of us that you found a way to get to her. The music is one thing but friends are another. Lula if you read this you had so many friends who cared for you. Friends who did things for you. You shared a many great times with them. You left them behind and they feel hurt. Be with who you want to be with and think what you want to think but Dean said that he stole you away. Why? Did you need to be saved? I guess only you know that for sure. Sorry if I made you feel hurt.
