Its time for JRNY to dig deep into there catalog and bring out gems like Colors of The Spirit, Can't Tame The Lion ,Troubled Child, After The Fall
And maybe even bring back Remember Me

To me Colors Rocks and is a great tune

Why dig into the old stuff? They should be promoting and playing the newer material, isn't that why they are in the music business?

COTS will never get played. Their set list has to be hits, then some new stuff. No obscurities - that's what the 30th anniversary tour was about.

Journey (Since Augeri joined) has always liked to dust off some "deep cuts". But you are correct, they should be playing new material instead. Define the dirty dozen. Play a few other cuts. And play a bunch of new material. Each year they should have added new material and subtracted some of the non-hit standards. They would now have a much more balanced set-list. And the audience would come to expect something new and different.

But don't you think they would grow their fan base if they played more of the newer material? Not everyone that goes to a Journey concert is a die hard fan.

I firmly believe if they had done it in small steps with each tour and each release, the fans would still be there. But if you can dust off an album track from 1978, you can play a new track and get pretty much the same response. There will be those that know the song and are very happy, there will be those that don't know the song but listen to it, and there will be those that don't care about anything they do not recognize and will go to the bathroom or bar. 2 outta 3 is the best you get in either situation.

So are you saying you think it's too late for them to start playing a lot of the newer material live?

The 30 anniversary tour was terrible
It would have worked if Perry and Rollie were on board but with SA it was not great IMO.

As far as playing new material Colors is new material its never been played live, Either has Troubled Child
These songs would have the same impact as a new song even thought its old material.
If JRNY does the same old setlist I won't even waste my time to be honest

I don't think it is too late to start...but they have to start small. I just think they would have found themselves in a much better postion had they started it back in 2001.

I agree, if the so called "casual" fan only knows the dirty dozen..they're certainly not gonna know some of the unreleased older songs. Might as well pull out the new stuff that the diehards are craving and hopefully they'll tap the person next to them singing along and ask "HEY DUDE, what album is that off of, I gotta get it!"

The diehards know the new stuff too...

I agree that a lot of the die hards know the new stuff. I have to say that I'm really not interested in seeing Journey play the same show again and again, with a few exceptions all the shows I've seen in the past 3 or 4 years have been mainly the dirty dozen with a few of the more obsure songs thrown in. I would like to hear the newer stuff played live because I was not real thrilled with the quality of the last couple of discs, and I think that the songs would come to life via a live gig.

I agree that the stuff sounds better live.

None of the new Journey fans can agree on what is good within the last three c.d.'s by Journey. If an album has to grow on you, how do you expect a person, who hears it for the first time at a concert, to like it?

The last one was obviously just thrown together. The one before was a joke, probably leftovers from the preperry era. Arrival was a mushy mess. jmho

The band won't even play the material in concert.

Mmmm the Journey fans here are close to unanimous that Generations is very good to great. I'm in the latter category with it pacing in my #1 spot ahead of ROR.And who says the fans have to agree on what songs they like most?

Yeah, "bring back" a bunch of TBF songs that nobody knows. Terrible idea.

If they are to add songs nobody knows, they should be NEW SONGS.

But, that ain't happening either.

At least add Augeri era songs. "Remember Me" wouldn't be bad. Anything off of Generations would be great.

I'm not expecting more then GH + 2 Augeri era songs.

It is really odd that they haven't played Remember Me since '98/'99. I mean...its the new lineup, it was well received live...and it is probably their best known "new" song since 1986.....I say that because that Armegeddon soundtrack sold very well...

This is just pathetic. Don't bands still continue and be successful even if their identifiable lead singer leaves? These guys just seem to be lost in the desert without direction. It just seems no one knows what to do. Espee
appears to be the last real leader of the group; he knew what he liked and what he didn't like and although sometimes wouldn't budge; he at least had the fortitude to stand up for what he liked. These guys seem to be lost without any idea how to promote themselves.

I'd love to see them dust off something like "Somethin' to Hide" or "Good Morning Girl" that they can let Augeri shine on and to shut up some critics.

Actually I'm still wanting to hear a Lights/Stay Awhile style run-in medley of Good Morning Girl and Easy to Fall. I think it'd be awesome.

Still She Cries would be a nice addition to the set too. Mellow, but I love that song. Very poignant lyrically.
