"In Journey, all the hit songs we had were based around Steve Perry's vocals."

I am always torn by comments like "vocal doppleganger". I hear the similarities, but Steve is far from identical. To be compared as a "twin" to the great Steve Perry is one heckuva compliment. But it just is not true. Steve is stellar, but he is not as srong as Perry. Steve has his own personality and voice even if it is influenced by the same people as Perry. It is a double=edged sword....

There are similarities and I don't feel bad saying that Perry was superior, because I've never heard anyone even on the same plane...save for maybe a 1978 Brad Delp.

Augeri is a better singer today, and is a damned fine singer in his own right, one of the best going today. He's not a doppelganger and he's not a Steve Perry clone, he's the lead singer of Journey and earned the spot with an incredible voice.

Brad Delp is a great singer, but even on a good night, Perry would have blown him away. HArd to go up against the voice of Rock-ERIC
