For 4:02, Mariah "takes it to CHURCH"!!

From Australia: ANDREW - have you seen this?

Yet another example of what I said here a while ago:

Next to damned IMPOSSIBLE to make a Steve Perry-sung melody your own...and IMO she did it.

What do you think?

Ugh. The word "mine" does not have nine syllables. I hate that showy style of singing.

But she is easy on the eyes...

Not like that. He did it in select spots for effect, she does it for every other word. Makes me want to turn my speakers down.

Same here. This song is beautiful for its simplicity.Although Mariah has a unique voice, she sings it in a gospel-ish manner.
I guess that's her style,but it's too complicated for a song like OA ....

Yeah. We get enough of that on American Idol.

Is it me or is it easier to sing when you slow it down like she does. One of the hardest things about Perry's vocals is the quick high and low switches he does.

She also cheats and falsettos here and there too.

But hey...it takes Mariah fricking Carey to duplicate his vocals...good on him.

Insert figer down throat, wait for the gagging reflex. Dime-a-dozen Divas everywhere. That is not vocal talent. I especially relish when they attempt to hit the high notes. Comparable to dragging your nails on a chalkboard and brakes locking-up on a freeway.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I am seriously spitting wads of fireballs here.
Why for the love of all things good is there no other bitching site
to see and here sheet than youtube.
Sickly pc hates youtube man.
If anyone could make a Journey love ballad sound well
my guess is Mariah would be in the top five.

I agree. She's too interested in showing off vocal prowess than actually just singing the song. Kind of like the Yngwie Malmsteen of singers! Too much noodling for my taste. Her music is not heartfelt at all because of her over-vocalizing... unlike the Journey ballads which are great and have a lot of feeling.
