Hi all.
I've been following the Journey story for quite some time and I thought I'd come here and clear up some things regarding Mr.Svante Pettersson, the guy who witnessed and then wrote about Journey's performance in Sweden. I'm shocked that some people would say he is not a real person and someone by the name of Craig Pitman, even claims that a phone call "confirmed" that Mr.Petterson is a fake! That is outrageous!

I guess it's time to meet Mr.Pettersson.

It is beyond me why would anyone say that Svante Pettersson is not legit,or that he made up the story behind the scenes from Sweden.He was there,he saw what Journey was doing and then he posted what he saw.Simple.

Thank You so much for providing all that, I am the one who contacted him and he couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. My impression is that he was dismissed as being real or credible by certain people with an agenda of hushing up the Journey controversy in an attempt to discredit those that are trying to expose the story here in the states. The Journey/DL tour is the best selling of the summer and much publicity has come from that. This Journey situation sounds like it's not new to some though that did know what was going on all this time and chose to disregard it.

Thank you for the links. Funny how someone can just post over there that they made a phone call and everyone believes them. However, when evidence is given by others here (files - actual files of obvious vocal shinanigens) they are dismissed.

People can be swayed by emotion or loyalty. I am doing my best to look at the evidence without emotion - one way or another. I hope that others can do the same.

Aren't you the one who was supposed to have made that phone call that denied the man existed? You could have found him had you tried but instead you're starting to look very dishonest. Those links give you his resume and proof of his existence, presence at that show, verification of the story he published and so on and I'm here to tell you that I am the one who told him about your phony phone call and denial. So after everything has been proven you wanna call him a liar too and say he made the story up? Yeah you go ahead and do that.

I agree and what some people don't seem to realize is there's much more than just Journey at stake.

Eric was NOT the person who made the phone call, nor posted that he did.

Doesn't Elson always sit outside for chrissake? I have a (AMAZING) show from Passaic, NJ '78. Happens to be a radio broadcast out of NYC and the djs say that they are sitting in a trailer outside the Captitol Theater witht Journey's sound crew watching a video feed of the show while they listen to the band on the Infinity tour off the soundboard. Don't know if if was KevCat back then but still.

I've been reading about all this and I have no idea who's right, who's wrong or who's in the middle. But here's what I do know. If it weren't for the people who buy the tickets to the shows and buy the cd's, these guys would be out of a job. So, essentially when you cut out all the crap, the fans pay these guy's salary. So then the question is, do the fans paying the salary, deserve an honest product?

No reputable journalist with any integrity is going to write and file such a report as this dude did so quickly, and he certainly wouldn't bother with the yahoos here. He would try to sell it to Deano's favorite rag Rolling Stone first, then he would try more mainstream magazines like Time, and Newsweek, or Newspapers like The New York Times or the San Faguy Chronicle.

You people are so gullible, and have been fed this outreageous crap for so long now, you'll reach for anything. It was part of a fabled and foiled master plan for an internet barrage with what some would buy into as an official source with an official moniker. Why not? He wrote it when he came home from working at the festival, aghast at what he'd witnessed from one of his favourite bands. He's a fan suddenly hit by the nagging feeling of being conned by someone he admired. It's as plain as that.

Don't kid yourself that Journey are such a big name these days. The media doesn't sit and wait for stories about old rock'n'roll bands pulling a fast one like these guys are obviously doing. Svante is doing his best to get this story out. The first thing he needed to do was get his information together, which is what he did on his site. The facts are there for the taking.

So you're one of those conspiracy clowns? Figures.

I only signed up for this board tonight because I saw my good friend Svante being ridiculed for bringing out a bit of sad truth. Yes, I know Svante personally, and I can vouch any day for him. He is a solid stand up guy with sound principles in a screwed up business (just look around you). Don't shoot the messenger just because his story doesn't suit your dream world.

Oh and one last thing. When Svante was putting his facts together, he had no idea the story was already spreading elsewhere. He stumbled into the facts at Sweden Rock completely unawares, so please put your ridiculous head-in-the-sand conspiracy theories away.

That's true...Svante's written observation was found & pasted here & Dean's blog, he only came on board after he was contacted by a poster.

I, for one am believing Svante's observation...he apparently was unaware of this topic being discussed anywhere & doesn't seem to have a rabid emotionalism that obscures reality.
