Well, it's hitting radio now

This in our radio prep this morning:

If an anonymous blogger is to be believed, Journey concerts haven't exactly been live performances. The Escape To Tape site has messages from "rockndeano" that say Journey frontman Steve Augeri (pronounced aw-JEER-ee) has been lip-syncing on stage to a pre-recorded vocal track, while the band plays live behind him. To prove his point, "rockndeano" has been posting live audio recordings and video footage online that he says prove his point, but several of the clips have been removed from their hosting site, and the blogger says pressure from Journey's management forced the hosting sites to take them down -- but a couple of audio tracks can still be found. There's been no public response from the Journey camp, but the band's webmaster is refusing to allow any discussion of the topic on the journeymusic.com message boards "until the rumors and speculation are officially addressed." Based on his posts, "Rockndeano" expects a response from Journey at any time. To check it out for yourself, go to escape-to-tape.blogspot.com.

Neither the blogger nor Journey's publicist responded to messages yesterday (Sunday, June 18th)

Could your head get any bigger, Deano?

Sure can. I am not at all ashamed of my actions.

Angie, you know Bruce?

I've already come to my own conclusions from all of this, my position is that I will not spend one more penny on Journey or Def Leppard. Let the fallout begin I do not care they are dead to me.

Then you won't be posting here anymore, right?

I'm new to the world of noticeboards, and am surprised by the vitriol in some of these messages. All I'd like to add is that I saw Journey for the first time at the Monsters of Rock in the UK and their performance seemed 100% live - and we were right down in front of the stage. In fact they were awesome!

Until we hear from Journey, "Awesome is as Awesome does." No pun intended,

If the mainstream media continues to pick up on this, Journey will have no choice BUT to respond to this.

It wouldn't surprise me if Def Leppard may even feel inclined to put pressure on them to resolve this before the tour.

I'm sure they don't want "guilt by association".

Yeah, I'm sure Joe Elliott will want Journey to give Andrew the exclusive, too.

Never heard of him and I'm sure he has nothing to do with how I got this.

Maybe Bruce Simon is a voice in your head, Deano. That's why you always do what "Simon says".

Any other stations picking it up??

If it's in this particular morning radio prep, it will be all over. This is a national widely used paid for prep service.

Sorry, but I've never heard a news report on the radio begin with "If an anonymous blogger is to be believed..."

well i hope journey the band makes a statement soon cause it seems like their current legacy is going down the crappers because of this question of if sa is lip synching or getting vocal enhancements. who would of thought this would ever happen? i think a lot of musicians should look at this and shudder cause it very well could be them this is all about.

It's entertainment news...big difference. Aside from that, whether you question the crediblity or not, it still has a LARGE readership and hundreds of radio stations use this prep service. I've never seen them wrong on a story yet.

Well, of course they're right that there is a blog in existence accusing the band of the practice... Not exactly going out on limb.

Here's a thought.. Deano was hired by the band to do this so the publicity would drive up ticket sales
