Why This Story Will Likely Fizzle Out

I've been watching this story grow and I must admit it's been interesting. I know Deano is frustrated that it hasn't caught on better than it has. I believe there's a reason for that and here it is.

No one cares.

It's really that simple.

Yes, there are a pocket of fans like on this board that pour over and argue the details incessantly but in order to understand, the gravity of this needs to be put in perspective.

We are but a small, barely visible flicker of light in a room burning with 10 trillion watt lights. In other words, Journey is off the public radar. They have been for a long time.

Do some of you remember Perry's return in '96? The press was HUGE. MTV covered it, in spite of the fact rap (puke) was dominating the video scene.

When Perry left the band for good in '88 and Journey signed Augeri and began touring, the main stream music scene pretty much cast them as a washed-up-has-been dinosaur act.

I am by no means a staunch Perry supporter. There's an equal amount of JACKASS lables to go around and he's got his.

At the end of the day, this story is at best, a sound bite. Sad but true.

There's more important things in life. Britney Spears is thinking about giving birth in Namibia!

Kind of like that Antimusic.com site that picked up the story a few days ago and said something like, "Who cares? It's 2006."

Steve Perry is my second favorite singer of all time, and even then it's an extremely close second. Perry is also in my top 5 favorite songwriters list. And steve Perry has donated a great deal of money to charities over the years which I respect greatly!

Neal Schon is my favorite guitarist of all time, I consider him to be the greatest guitarist to ever live, and he seems like a nice guy too.

To tell you the truth I think both Steve Perry and Neal Schon have acted like immature brats in many ways over the years when it comes to dealing with each other.

I would like to give them both a big kick in the ass over their childishness with each other!

I'll be honest though and tell you that I think Steve Perry has been the bigger problem of the two.

As I said in another post none of us can make Journey take Steve Perry back in the band, in fact we don't know if Perry would even be willing to go back in the band ever again?

If Steve Perry ever rejoins Journey I will be very happy! But at the same time if the all most as great Steve Augeri remains in the band for many, many years I will also be very happy!

Journey are much bigger than any of the singers that they have ever had or ever will have!!!

Which would any true Journey fan rather have, one album with Steve Perry and then the band breaks-up, or several albums and tours with Steve Augeri and the band continues on and on?

If anyone says they would rather have the one album with Perry then they are not a Journey fan they are a Steve Perry fan only!

I was a big pre-Perry fan, actually. Some of the stuff sounds a little dated, now, but not all. I don't see how if you want to hear the stuff they all wrote together one more time and then put it to rest, that would make you less of a fan. When somebody writes a song about their life, their girl, their wife, whatever, they convey that orginal feeling and deliver it in their vocal. I'm sure it's the same with any singer, even Augeri on Generations. They deliver the words they pen better than somebody else's. I don't dream about a Perry reunion with Journey. It won't happen, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to hear the songs done by the original artists and conveyed with their original intent. That's a beautiful thing, man.

I got to say this post may be the most true and to point post I've seen here; Bar none. Jimi Jamison is a friend, and guarantee ya he'd give you a big kudos for your sentiments.

Where's the fire? Peterszon was fake, and honestly it looks like Deeno, Andy, and the whole lot is a fake as well. I haven't had so much laughing while reading since I was a kid reading highlights magazine which I think just had some kind of watermark anniversary.

Journey don't have to answer to jack shit. They've earned that right, and no matter what I say, which I told you from day one I was only a lowly self employed shutterbug, you say, which is totally laughable in 95% of the posts here, or what Andy says, which by his posts today you can obviously feel the may november sweeps kissy kissy, yet there is only one problem with that. It's June, may november won't help& it ain't TV.

Even the statute of limitations is expired from '98 so Andy really has no right to fall back on or rquest a damn thing. Got to keep diggin, and doing the homework instead of resting on the laurels, huh BUD?

It's over, and no amount of " I like JRNY but" will make it farther. Go back to your what if speculation had the sensitive one found a place in his heart to carry on. He didn't, he couldn't, he won't, and thats that.

Sorry Deano. You were overmatched from the beginning. Just picked on the wrong one dude. Not to mention women and children. As always, women and children first. So Lu has left you to fight the battle alone now?

I take that back. I'm not sorry either. You get what you deserve, and "Karma is one royal bitch." You can quote me on that.

Craig,
Why are you hell bent on continually giving me shit?

I don't have to and won't put up with that.

It is known that as egotistical as Perry can be, he's smart with his money which is the reason he doesn't need to work. A running industry joke is that "Perry never cashed his first paycheck"

To paraphrase Herbie Herbert, these guys had the potential to make untold millions and their petty infighting and ego's pissed it all away. Journey, at one time, had the potential to be the Led Zepplin of the 80's. It's difficult for me to respect ANYOINE who blows golden opportunity after golden oppotrunity just to get their ego stroked.

You're right Andy. You don't have to put up with jack shit.

You were offered the option of stopping this a month ago and you chose not to in difference to your longtimers and fans.

Shall I remind you?

Thats your choice, yet I am true in my convictions, and even though you have selectively deleted the threads you wanted to, and kept members that defied your rules, paved the way for fraudulent posters, I will remain true to my convictions. I live in America. The land where everyone is treated equally.

Pit,

Why don't you stop with the low blows here? Whatever happened between Deano and Lu is their own business. So back off of using that.

You get what you deserve, and "Karma is one royal bitch."

Just you remember this youself, Pit, because Karma will kick you square in the ass someday.

Fraudulent posters? WTF are you talking about?

And as for deleting threads - my God, is that all you have to complain to me about? BOTH sides have their equal chance to make all views known here and that ain't going to change anytime soon.

I suggest that if you want to stay around, you stop giving me shit for no apparent reason.

Jrny/Survivor. big fan of yours, but I disagree that Neal Schon's acted like a brat to SP. hell, if anything Neal, Jonathan (and to an extent Ross) showed the utmost patience, 10 friggin years worth, with Punxatawney Steve. When he tried to turn the hourglass over on another decade of limbo, Neal started rooting through his music library for the Tall Stories album. Good on him.

Look, Craig is pickin' fights where there are none!

Craig, why is it hard to see that Andrew has actually been equal in his treatment to everyone. Could he have done something about Deano? Yes. Should he? Maybe so. But was Andrew fair to everyone? Absolutely. You may not like what is being said, as many of us do not, but that does not mean people do not have the right to say it anyway...

I only wish it were over. We are not out of the woods yet and Journey fans are going to need stamina to keep up.
