I may be seeing "white rabbits" here, but wow - that microphone of Steve's is large enough to cover his mouth. And in several pics, his mouth IS covered by it.

Funny how Neal's mic cover (and Jeff Healy's) isn't that large...

Again, this may mean ABSOLUTELY nothing, but in light of everything, it makes me wonder... I need to look at pics from concerts past and see if he has always held the mic that closely. I know Perry always pulled it away when he hit his high notes so as to not overpower the speakers.

Can't you just enjoy the pictures? Which is probably why Monker linked them here in the first place.

Damn, get a life people.

Hm.
That makes "2 last posts on the subject till something else surfaces,"Knox, counting your first last post on the subject in the "funny that..." thread.

That would be me. I've been trying to stay quiet on this lip-synching thing, since we already discussed it a month ago, but that Faithfully crap got to me.

And this mic thing, sure, the pop screen may be used to hide his mouth, but it also may be used for what it is designed for.

Anyway, Thanks for those pics, Monker. Very nice.

I copied and pasted since I posted in both threads within a minute of each other. Just trying to cover my bases. So, in essence, it should count as one post in 2 different threads.

Make sense?

I was thinking of that wind screen too. And how SA at Sweden Rock kept that mic pushed flat to his face throughout the show. Then I was watching the 2001 dvd last night. No windscreen and he is moving his mic away from the mouth sometimes when he sings louder, like all good singers who knows how to work a mic. In fact, his default use of the mic on that video is to keep the mic an inch or so away from the mouth. You pretty much always see his mouth.

And no, I was not looking at that dvd to find evidence of anything. I was watching it because I enjoy it and it's a damn fine performance from everyone involved, fixed afterwards or not.

Will you all look closely at this one?
NO singer can sing properly with the mic GLUED to his lips! He would sound like "sjow nhjow I cjwome to yjou wijth ophjen armjs"...
Any professional singer could confirm this!

Too funny!! This one ranks right up there with the Ozzy Osbourne "shot in the daaaa-aark" comment. LOL 8)

Any professional singer could confirm this!

Here I am!! LOL

You are right on the money!!! How can ANYone pronounce any words - let alone SING them - when something is blocking your ability to enunciate?!

THIS PIC - YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!

Yup, the picture SHOWS the TRUTH, NO WAY Augeri could be singing with that mic pressed up against his lips like that! Augeri is certainly NOT a professional singer, NO professional singer would ever fake singing that way in front of all their fans, that is terrible!

LOL...yeah, and I wonder how many pics there are where it looks like a mic is glued to a singer's face. Here is one I took a year ago, I spose she's lip-synching too:

Not kissing the mic, but these are my favorite pics of the set:

Dave Grohl puts his face all over the mic too.

You're comparing THESE two pics? They couldn't be more different:

Dave Grohl is clearly AWAY from the mic....Steve A. has his OPEN MOUTH PRESSED INTO the mic.

That would make everyone that has a pic like that guilty. So be it.

Interesting, no comments on what I posted.

You complain about this situation smearing lead singers? You're doing it to yourself by being so judgemental on these things. It would be interesting to have someone here go to some show of yours (assuming you perform live, I really don't know) and take a couple dozen pics...I'll bet anything some will look exactly like those of Augeri and what I posted.

They are just PICTURES. You are over-analyzing them.

Pathetic argument. It only takes a split second to take a pic people. What about all the other pics of Steve where the mic isn't close to his lips? You've picked on one pic out of thousands simply to try to fuel the flames.

Monker, who's the hot girl in your pics by the way?!! OK, i'm shallow!!

Yep. That and the fact that the picture reflects a mere second (if that) in time. I suppose someone is going to fill us in with their expertise as to exactly what song that was, at what point in the song it is and EXACTLY what he was singing. He could have been holding a note for all we know (and or care for that matter).

Let the flogging continue. :(

I would think you will find it hard to find a pic from Sweden Rock where he has his mic in any other way (while singiing, if the mic is down by he's knees, he's obvioulsy not singing).

There weren't thousands of pics taken at Sweden Rock. That's something that some people forget in this discussion. We are not talking about Journey's, or SA's, whole career.

Good Lord...Will it never end?

Thanks for the pictures, Monker.

The photograph you posted, Infinity, proves nothing; but then you obviously know nothing about photography. And haven't taken into account the rapid succession in which these photos were shot.

BTW, Infinity, did you get permission to bring that photo over here?

That's the best picture Google images had. If I had VIDEO of the Foo fighters playing, you would see that Dave practically swallows the mic.

But, then again, a picture is a split second like everyone else pointed out.
