The facts

Styx without Dennis DeYoung and Journey without Steve Perry are facades that are ripping off consumers. Every ticket bought to either of their shows should say in BOLD LETTERS (Note: This lineup of Journey/Styx does not feature Steve Perry/Dennis DeYoung).

Maybe to Journey's stub it should be added - Note: portions of this performance may have been previously recorded.

Maybe to Styx's stub it should be added - Note: The venue takes no responsibility to cringe inducing vocals performed by Lawrence Gowan.

Some people just can't stand when others are happy, so they try to drag them down to their level of misery.

Nice try! Now go get laid, willya? :P

Seing bands from the 70s,there is a pretty good chance that all original members are not there.
So you can always do a little homework before purchasing a ticket.

How can you say that they are ripping off custumers! They are continiuing on with bands that have been around for 3 decades. Yes Perry/Young were big parts of these bands, but unfortunatly they are no longer with the bands. The reasons may be good or they may be bad. The fact is if these members wouldn't have been replaced. Journey would of not made Arrival, Red13 or Generations (though Generations is probably my least fav album..or do we need to say CD now 8) . They would of not been on tour since 1986 and we would not have these message boards to disuss all this. Sure I do wish that someday Perry would return to Journey for one last go around, but I do think that this would never happen, think of the $$$$ they could make on that tour. Would Young return to Styx I really don't know. We can't have our cake and eat it too, we either follow the bands the way they are today or it is a good possibility that both bands would be idle if they didn't move foward with new bodies. After Perry got hurt that in 96 or so and couldn't tour for TBF, they had to make a decision if they were to move foward as a BAND not as an individual. If they waited for Perry to recover they might of toured, and they might not of toured, but would they still be touring today??? 8 years later, who knows, I am just gald that I am still able to hear this music live.

As far as the other topic, I will not touch it until an offical word from the band comes down, it has seemed to lost some of its fizzle here, with the tour stating tomorrow in NJ, you would of thought the news would of made a story in the US but so far NOTHING !!!!!!

Cant wait till 7/10 in West Palm Beach

Gee, after reading your topic header, I thought this post would have some 'facts' in it. Instead, all I read are a few opinions...some are almost ten years old. Oh, well, that's the nature of things on an internet forum.

I'm not much of a Styx fan so I can't really comment, but Augeri's been in Journey for about 8 years now, I think everyone who goes to a show knows Perry isn't there (if nothing else, than from watching the "Behind The Music" special that aired a few years ago). Sure, they'd draw a lot more if it was Steve Perry, but they seemed to be doing alright until Augeri lost his voice.

Barring this lip synching thing, I'd rather have this Journey than none at all, as I've really enjoyed their recent albums.

I argree with you 100% Walrus, it has been 8 years now almost as long as Perry was with the band !! Maybe I haven't given Generations a big chance, but I throughly enjoyed Arrvial and beleive it should of been promoted better and there were a few gems on that album that could of been hits, I love Signs of Life and I Got A Reason, which I were albe to see live in West Palm Beach in 2001

Good post!
I think the issue here is that Journey has survived and done quite well
for the past 8 years with this line-up.
I think some people were hoping they would fail so that they would go crawling back to Perry. Like that will ever happen. Just like when Steve
Augeri was having problems the begining of the last tour.
Having Perry at the HWOF only fueled the fire.
I am sorry that some people can;t move on and
face that Steve Augeri is doing an incredible job.
Unfortunately this will never change.
However, I refuse to have someone tell me what to think.,
act and feel. I can go live with my disfunctional alcholic family if I want to do that.
I support Steve Augeri and the band and wish to
be allowed to do that on my terms.
Bring on the new tour!!!

Better yet, they should learn the definition of the words "fact" and "opinion" before making a thread titled "The Facts".

It should be titled "An Opinion".

I also want to add I think Lawrence Gowan sings very well. or am I sensing that he is no good also because he is the "new singer"

Styx rock a lot harder since they ditched the (admittedly brilliant) lounge singer. Me personally, I love them now.....

Good post AnnieOprah :D

BTW..it's funny how those who want to change subjects just can't help themselves, and they keep responding to posts having to do with this latest Journey screw-up.

I'm also noticing it is not all "Perryheads" who are upset and/or asking questions about whatever-the-heck is going on here.

I'm one who thinks that Styx is just not quite the same without DeYoung in the band. However, I've seen them twice with Gowan and his vocals were not all that bad.
