If any of you want to see what happens during 'faithfully' - no conspiracy, just a technical glitch - let me have your e-mail address and I'll send you a couple of clips (34MB and 93MB).

Sorry if I upset anybody by having the 'footage' but this negativity has got to stop!

yeah, most email has a 10 MB limit on attachments. But you could post it to any one of those free downloading sites like yousendit. I'm really curious to see what kind of technical glitch not only caused his mic to go out briefly, but to completely change the sound and tone of his voice when he came back in afterwards.

Hey coocoocatchoo...sorry piss poor Beatles reference...Maybe it is the quality of the recording of the bootleg? Just food for thought. Like I said everyone should form their own opinions.

I agree. But for an audience recording it's pretty good. It's not the recording, anyway. It's that his voice goes from being perfectly smooth and in-tune before the dropout, to being wavery, scratchy, and breathy when he comes back in. The recording is good enough to show that something happened there. And unless he drank a glass of lemon juice in the 5 seconds his mic was out, causing the difference, I'm guessing the first part of the song is not live.

I'm curious about the faithfully one from manchester because in that one to me he sounds like the mic goes out completely but I don't think that's unusual, a technical glitch maybe? What puzzles me are the parts after that incident and not just once when he keeps singing out of synch? Why is he doing that? I didn't think he sounded bad after the mic cutout incident just that he kept losing track of the song. I can't begin to understand why he's using the audience to sing and (right on que at that) until I understand why he keeps falling out of synch. It seems more plausible to me that it's live because of the screw-ups.

The mic didn't go out...the pre-recorded vocals did. Then, he had to sing the rest of the song and simply couldn't. Listen closely to his voice. In the beginning, which I believe to be pre-recorded, his voice is strong. Then, suddenly he is hoarse and raspy and has to reach for even the simplest high notes and simply can't. He sounds terrible...so bad that Deen sings the last part of the song, starting at 3:43. If that doesn't tell you something, I'm not sure what will.

SaintJohn, thanks :) I'll go back and listen again and look for the 3:43 mark Because I didn't notice the difference in his voice to Deans
I'll also agree on the beginning being a tape rather than the mic going out because of the difference in his voice after that blank spot.

I still don't understand the stumbling parts because that part is live right? What I mean is why does he keep doing that, he can't keep track of where he's supposed to be in the song? He keeps doing it not just when the tape cuts out and he has to sing?

Am I crazy or does that audience sound right on que with him turning over whole lines for them to sing? I've just never seen that at a concert where the audience can pick up that fast on an entire line but I don't know what's typical participation from the fans. Does he always do that?

The only thing that I can think of in his defense is this. His ear pece may have went out with the pre-recorded material. Because of that, he could not hear where the song was, rather the drums and crowd noise. I could easily see him losing his spot in the song. It's just that the pristine voice before whatever it was that happened, is suddenly gone. Also, I believe, if you listen closely, he even says Deen's name. I too will go back and listen again.

SJ, thanks. After listening again I realized the audience sings every verse right along with him it's just more prominent at that particular spot. It sounds like the audience is drowning him at times for the rest of the song but there are also sounds where his voice cuts out entirely but very briefly where you can hear the audience but not him. I also listened twice again at the 3:43 mark and I honestly can't tell the difference in SA and Dean, sounds like the same person to me. If you say that is Dean that sings at that point I believe you just has me wondering how many times I've heard him sing and thought he was Augeri

It's called redundancy.......If your in ear monitors go out, you yank them out of your ears and listen to the stage monitors, until you get a break to run to the side of the stage and get a new bodypack from your tech. I've only heard the audio, not the video, but the monitors going out would not prevent someone from being able to sing or losing track of the song. That excuse might work for Katy McPhee but not for a millionaire rock star professional. To my ears it sounds like the guide vocal went out and Augeri's voice was unable to sing the song, so he covered by having the audience sing it for him. He sounded worse than the much-maligned Perry singing "Faithfully" at the Bill Graham memorial.
