is just a weak attempt to divert people from the real issue. I'll answer though.

I had nothing against him personally. I just thought he made an unwise decision in trying to replace an irreplaceable voice.
Also, do you hate the idea that Journey have continued on without Steve Perry as the lead vocalist?
I think the word hate is a bit too strong but I've certainly made it no secret that I thought they should have retired the Journey name with the dignity of the legacy intact. That's why I'm pissed about what they're doing now. They're demeaning the name Journey more than I thought they already had.
I'm not saying Augeri was never a good singer, or that they didn't do any good music. He was good, but not great enough to replace Perry. Arrival and Generations both have some very good music on them. (And I would never have been able to say that if I hadn't met
Dean. He made me listen and I liked what I heard) I really think they would have been more successful if they had used another name. They just never could live up to the expectations of
Journey with the industry or the majority of the original Journey fanbase.
Now if someone wants be deluded enough to think that my being a staunch Perry fan somehow excuses what the band is doing now, or even makes it untrue, have at it.
I love Steve Perry's singing, believe me!!!
As I have said befor Steve Perry is an extremely close second on my list of favorite singers of all time!
I have been a Journey and Steve Perry fan for over 25 years now.
I of course own every album that Steve Perry has ever released, and I hope that in the near future I can get a copy of his "Alien Project" album that was never officially released. I also have the Steve Perry CD's singles that had previously unreleased songs on them.
As I have also said before I respect greatly that Steve Perry has done a great deel for charity! I used to donate a lttle bit of money to some of the charities that he was donating to.
Overall I think Steve Perry is a nice person and he seems to be nice to his fans who are lucky enough to meet him.
I am a bigger fan of an in his prime Steve Perry than I am of Steve Augeri.
I have gotten in heated arguments with people who rip on Steve Perry.
But with all of that said...
Journey have every right to continue on without Steve Perry!
It was never Steve Perry's band, it is truly Neal Schon's band.
There was a Journey before Steve Perry and there is a Journey after Steve Perry.
It was kind of ridiculous and arrogant of Perry to think that Journey should no longer exist without him!
As great as I know Steve Perry's singing is/was IMO the greatest talent in the band has always been Neal Schon.
And for that matter Steve Smith, Jonathan Cain, Deen Castronovo, Gregg Rolie and Aynsley Dunbar are as talented as Perry. And Ross Valory is a great bass player too.
I think that Steve Augeri is a great singer, and I am very greatfull that Journey have him to be able to continue on!
For whatever reason Steve Perry and the other members of Journey just couldn't get along. I wish they had been able to get along, but they don't.
Also from what I have heard I don't know if Steve Perry has much left as a singer anymore? Even though I think that a young Steve Perry was a better singer than Steve Augeri, I think that in 2006 Steve Augeri probably has a little more left than Steve Perry does?
And Steve Perry was an all out tirent when it came to the Raised On Radio album. He bossed around Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, and he insited that Ross Valory be replaced, and he tried to relagate the greatest drummer in the world, Steve Smith, to being a drum machine.
I'm not saying this about you personally, but I think a lot of Steve Perry's fans just can't let go of the fact that Perry is no longer in Journey, and therefore they are taking it out on Steve Augeri and the rest of Journey.
