I linked a pic of lots of empty seats at the Camden show on BT, and the reason given for the empty seats was traffic.

Then, someone chimed in and said Jones Beach was the same way - lots of empty seats for Journey during the first part of their set.

I would love to know, for the rest of the tour (or what we can get reports of) how the crowd is for Journey.

There are reviews that also say in Jones Beach the weather sucked, but Journey played to a nearly full house and lots of people left after Journey--not staying for DL. If the argument is, well, it just BT people so they aren't giving an accurate picture. It's Journey fans who are going to the shows and posting reviews. Unfortunately MR is a pretty adverse place for Journey fans lately so I doubt you'll find many reviews here.

Just curioius what row were you in? Also, why no shot of the surrounding crowd?

Made a stop at BT to read reviews and check what overall feeling is about the show last night. On the general forum there is a thread entitled:

If you really want to barf, go read it. Stuff like that is what makes BT look so stupid and have no credibility. God forbid if somebody wanted to talk music.

It didn't rain the entire show, so the weather can't be blamed. There were plenty of empty seats while Journey was on. All the empty seats got filled when Def Leppard came on stage. I've never seen the theater so packed at a Journey show before, and I go see them there whenever they play there. It think it was mostly a Def Leppard crowd.

Why do you think the band doesn't visit BT anymore? You have a bunch of Adult males and females acting like 15 yr old boy crazy girls. It's bizarre and disturbing to say the least.

They hate the thought of growing up so they need to hold on to there youth anyway they can ...so they joined the New high school cult thing to make them feel young again...(it's not working the old guy steve a is losing his voice)

I was at Jones Beach. There were a lot of seats empty in the beginning of the Journey show, but filled up after three or four songs. Weather was really bad getting to the venue, and cleared up right before the show. I could see if there may have been some traffic problems - one of the main routes to the show was flooded and crawling along at 15 MPH.

Yes, there were empty seats - but mostly where the corporate season ticket holders sit. Jones Beach was more filled in the front than Camden was. Camden had entirely empty rows in the front, but they were rows with a sucky view. Quite possible scalpers couldn't sell them.

A lot of people left after Journey - yes, that was true also. If you're not a DL fan, why not? Getting out of the parking lot after the show is pure hell.

What they should do is a ticket exchange. When Journey fans leave, give your ticket to waiting DL fans. If anything, you would sell more t-shirts, beer and food.

My favorite was in the "Jones Beach...so how was it thread". Some rocket scientist said, "NEAL PLAYED SOMETHING TO THE TUNE OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM." Ummm...hello?!??!?! No wonder the band never goes there.

Wow just had an email from a friend on the east coast and said dl blew journey off the map!!!!Go figure...(and there a hard core journey fan to )

Ok...I am a Def Leppard fan ...I went to Jones last night.

The entrance was so congested that most people missed the first 20 minutes of Journey. Given that .... there were MANY more empty seats for Journey then Leppard...period.

Next, Steve Augeri...or whatever his name was...kept walking off the stage when the drummer started to sing...it was really weird..unless you knew the drummer was signing it looked like lip synching..it obviously wasnt but it was hard to tell with the singer running off the stage every 30 secs.

I sat through the whole set and people were losing patience with everyone in the band singing a song. You need a front man!

The show was 100% packed when Leppard went on..if anyone left it was right before the encore.

Uh, if you're saying the band never comes to Long Island, you're quite wrong.

Neal was not playing the National Anthem... in fact, I don't know what the he's been playing the last two nights either. Sounded like a very distorted "My Country Tis of Thee" - and I could only figure that out from the last line Neal played. I can see him playing that one though, because "God Save Our Queen" goes to the same tune in the UK.

He was talking about not going to Back Talk, not Long Island.

I was at Camden and Jones Beach....travel to both venues was pure hell due to the weather and people did get there late. As for the empty seats, it appears that at Camden most of the front seats were Def Leppard fans who DID NOT come in for Journey. At Jones Beach there was quite a bit of ticket swapping going on between Def and Journey fans. It was primarily a packed house for both bands. Only a handful of die-hard Journey fans left. I was sec A also.

Morning Wood is correct, Neal did not play the National Anthem. It was a shorter instrumental also.

Boy, I left for business for a couple of weeks and Deano went off the deep end. Sheesh!

As long as people aren't turning in their tickets for refunds before the shows and ticket sales are steady then it's a moot point anyway. People are going to the shows. I have to question who they are there to see in the first place? I read a recent concert report from billboard that was posted on Metal Sludge that showed one show in December for Journey and one for DL from November where the attendance for Journey was 2500 DL's was 10,000 When this tour was first announced I was lead to believe from posters on BT that Journey had similar numbers to DL so I thought the audience split would be 50/50.

Journey is opening every show and the typical concert goer doesn't care about being there on time. They want to have fun, drink and hear some tunes.

This decision is AWFUL by Journey. Maybe the worst decision they've made so far!

I agree. Whether it's called a "co-headlining" tour or not, the fact is that Journey is the opening act, simply for the fact that a good portion of the audience is not going to show up until closer to the time that Def Leppard takes the stage. They should be doing what David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar did a couple of years ago and swap the headlining spot every night.

This also happened when I saw Journey last summer. It was a great show...and I was there! And I wasn't drinking.......or drugging...like some
