Can I just get this off my chest?

How many others find it disturbing when people call Augeri "Stevie Awesome" or "Mr. Awesome"?

I don't know... Just a bunch of middle aged women (hey, I am middle aged so I can say that) calling him that just to tell everyone how perfect they think he is really makes my stomach brew.

I know this is waaaaay off topic, but it IS Journey related. If this post gets deleted, I understand and no hard feelings.

I just had to tell SOMEONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL. Yeah. One reason I left BT. Got tired of hearing what he wears every night, how awesome he is, etc. Now, let me say this. I DO think a lot of Augeri. He is a SUPER nice guy and has some nuts the size of coconuts to do this to begin with. I am certainly not bashing him in any way. That part does get old however.

I don't know. The "Stevie Awesome" comments don't bother me so much. What does is the fawning over what clothes he is wearing and the comments that he is "yummy". That last one drives me nuts.

I have never heard anything but positive remarks about the man himself, either.

This has to do with how they talk about him over there. Yeah, the "yummy" gets old as well.

I agree 100% Knox. It is VERY nauseating, but then again so is "Journey Shirt Day", "H2H", and those silly fuckin' "love" threads. That site is the world's biggest cheerleading section. Just like cheerleaders keep cheering regardless of what is going on, so do they. I'd say it's halftime right now and Journey is being shut out. They need to find an offense, cause they're all defense right now and you need to score to win.

Mr Awesome doesn't bother me half as much as the Perry words. "Perry good", "Perry happy", "Perryful", etc. Ugh.

Not fond of those, either. It is like they are just trying to "one up" each other.

I don't find that very "Perryific"...

considering I said that very thing in a few posts last night, about "middle age women (and some men) calling him Stevie Awsome", I'd say I'm on the side of the fence who finds it very disturbing. People need to get laid for real, instead of just fantasizing about a person they'll never ever have a chance to even steal a kiss from.

When I see a phrase like Stevie Awsome or even type it out, I feel the need to go take another shower, and wash the slime off of me.

it's harmless fun. good lord nobody here is going to wrestle the man down. it's just romancing the stone. that's why they write romance novels and actors protray them on screen. it's fun to daydream.

yeah but see, if I wanted to post at Lifetime Tv then I'd go to their site. Back before, way back when, the only thing being called awesome on the boards was the music and the experience of the concerts. I'm talking about when Skylar(?) ran it.

not beating a horse to death; but...he's not singing; he's not on stage so they can listen to him sing; the only thing they have left is his voice on cd or to watch him on dvd. they can't applaud from their seats the virtues of his singing voice. what's left. oogle. oogle. oogle. they like what they see. and he's not taking ugly pills.

maybe he's not taking ugly pills, but come on, he's untouchable. I suppose you have to commit to living vicariously, when you sign up for the site nowadays. Because the way some people talk over there, they aren't getting laid by anyone real. Then again, I've never seen a pic of anyone from the site, that was taking the opposite of ugly pills. And I'm not a handsome fella in my own mind.

Yeah, we had people going all ga-ga over Perry...Perry's hair, Perry's butt, Perry's eyes on the FTLSOM pic, and on and on and on. The difference is we were allowed to say, "Quit going all ga-ga over Perry and talk about the music." Doing that at BT will get your hand slapped by both posters and moderators. Since the moderators sometimes JOIN such silly "talk", they basicaly promote it. So, you have what you have...and it's far too late to stop it.

If you don't like it, don't read it...But, why come here to complain about it?

I no longer see how this forum is any better then BT. The people here are a bunch of whiners. You whine about BT, you whine about the "tape' thing, you whine about each other. Whine, whine whine. Where is the talk about the MUSIC, you mention above? And, i don't mean "Tapegate", or whatever the new scandal of the day is.

And yet here you are whining about whining. Practice what you preach. Start a thread ONLY about music, and see where it goes.

Doesn't mean people aren't still enjoying the music.

Raising hand in the air screaming "Meeeeeeeeee"
I have no doubt the man is a very sweet person
but hell I don't even call hubby Mr.Awesome and he
works daily for me.
I always cringe then chuckle when I read that statement.

Hey, hold up there. YOU were the one complaining about BT and comparing it to how Sky ran the old forum...so, how is it any better to come to a place where everybody drools over Augeri (or Perry) then to come to a place where everybody does nothing but whine about everything?

It seems to me that the reasons for the chat in both places is vey childish.

Doesn't mean people aren't still enjoying the music.

I doubt people here WANT to talk about what they 'enjoy'. What they do not enjoy seems to take precedence.

Maybe childish, and I won't get in a pissing match with you about how Journey's board used to be, you were there, I saw many posts by you at one time.

Stating that it used to be fun to post on Journey's forum, before it got taken over by whomever, is just that, a statement. that's not whining.

I happen to ENJOY listening to much all of Journey's stuff they ever released, and even a few unreleased things, but that doens't mean I can't bitch about what's going on.

I am a casual Journey fan. I've seen both the Perry and Augeri-led lineups once each. Truthfully I enjoyed the Arrival show better than I did the Frontiers show, althoug I think both SA and SP are "Stevie Awesomes" in their own right. Both are worthy...

I've read the threads and listened to the clips. Having done that, I am still undecided.

The clips and posts are not proof, they are evidence.

To me, if SA was faking it then all of his shows the past two years would be vocally perfect. A little out of key, missing lyrics, singing verses backwards, not able to hit the high notes, etc. It doesnt make sense.

Ive read posts where one of the accusers says SA was 100% faking it the past few years. Once again, then why all the complaints about his voice - if he was lipping it then the vox would be perfect.

With that said, I must agree that BT board posters can be nauseating. Many there sound like obsessed junior high school girls....

...while some of the SA accusers seem to be equally psycho in their obsession with bringing SA and Journey down.

Many bands use pre-recorded material live. Especially BG vocals, keys and some lead. Ozzy is one example. He was singing to a recording at the Super Bowl show he did recently. You could plainly see it, at times his lips werent even moving. I heard two Ozzys at the same time. Word is Robert Mason stands off-stage and helps Ozzy sing the high notes live. VH and Black Sabbath used a keyboardist who was behind the curtian. Some rationalize that it's OK to do that unless it is the lead vocals. To me that's BS - either it's right to do for all instruments/vox or it isn't.

My 2 cents from a person without an agenda. Whether SA is getting help or not, if it bothers one so much that they have to start a blog, go on radio, post hundreds of hateful messages and spend time messing with bootlegs and such - well, to me that is the most pathetic part of this entire subject. I mean, really, it is that important in the grand scheme of life?

Think about it...

ummm, big difference with the super bowl, where people are there supposedly to enjoy football. It's been known for years that almost all vocals are pre-recorded. Thanks to Whitney Houston, for fucking that one up.

There's also, as has beens tated NUMEROUS times, a HUGE difference between recorded lead vocals being used and background and keys, etc.

Not everyone posting on this has an agenda for the worse. In fact what would come of this whole situation would be for the better, IF Journey would just release a statement. Good luck to us all on that.
