C'MON JOURNEY!! ADDRESS THIS!!!

I think everyone's heard the clips that wants to hear them, and although there is nothing illegal in hosting short (>1:00) clips for the purpose of educational discussion, it appears that CJ over at BT has already started laying the groundwork for some sort of legal threats. Having signed for registered letters from Journey's legal team before, it is not something I wish to get involved in again. Whether or not it is legal or right is not the argument when dealing with deep pockets.

Sad comment. They'll go to the trouble to harass you, but not to address their fans. Shows you where their heart is. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

And I love Journey, but this blows.

I think the fans deserve to be addressed before Journey asks them to blindly buy their concert tickets. Tell the truth and the whole truth, and let us decide whether we still want to go.

Come on Journey!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have a lot of fans that want to support you, and you're leaving us hanging out to dry.

No more blind faith from me.

Woah - Journey has not harrassed me at all!!

I am just trying to avoid any future conflict. I've dealt with Sony before and Jon & Neal's publishing companies before regarding legal matters, as it relates to my tribute band. I am probably in a unique situation here - Different from most folks on this board - and so I'm just doing what is in my best interests down the road....

That's what I'm responding to.

and BT is directly linked to the band, so if this CJ person is doing this, as you say, he is doing it as a rep for the band. (and NOT responding to the fans, which I think is what BT should be finding a way to do....)

Isn't Sony out of the picture at this point?

I'm afraid that there wont be an answer comming soon because of whats at stake, money, it's always been about money since the pressure on Perry and the break up, Jon and Neal have always pressed for more and more, probably because they needed it more (divorces and fucking it off)....the band is in "constatnt tour to survive" mode now, Augeri is just an unlucky bastard (although paid well too) along for the ride......."make the paper" is thier motto now......fuck the legacy.....

In todays world perception often becomes reality. At this point, I don't see them responding.

I think Journey's at the end of the road anyway.

Sony still owns Journey's music. Neal has said he wanted to buy the catalog, but I don't see it happening. Sony still makes a lot of money from Journey music.

I would Imagine Sony is still Involved regarding any music they own. IE, Anything recorded under the label.

Sony owns the master recordings. If a band member was concerned that the master recordings were being used illegally/without permission, they could contact Sony to protect their common interests.

I guess material from any of the CDs (Arrival & prior) or from the Vegas DVD would fall under Sony's
ownership. Bootlegs of live shows? Nope.

I think it is time they say something to the fans. But i don't see them doing this at all.And Cj is a woman.

The Journey web site is being closed for "maintenance" for three days, starting on Thursday. Seems like kinda suspicious timing to me. That doesn't mean I totally believe the accusations but it's doesn't look good considering what's been going on.

Man, now that's interesting.

Maybe they were deleting so many posts so fast their server exploded!
(Just kidding)

I got the email about it this morning. The first thing that came to mind was that this is really bad timing. Put out a response, for crying out loud!

Really? The first thing that came to my mind is that many people update and do inventories & maintenance on a six-month basis. At work I have a variety of reports that are due July 3 as that is the first work-day of the first six-month period of 2006. Of course that is not as exciting as these conspiracy theories.

I'm not saying I think it's a conspiracy. I'm saying it's bad timing. If they need to do maintenance on the site, then it's probably a smart idea not to do it right now so that it LOOKS LIKE they are trying to hide something.

It only looks like they are trying to hide something to those that think they are trying to hide something. 8)

Let me start off by saying that I rarely post on forums, even our own. But when my wife CJ sent this post to me I was simply floored! "You have got to be f*&^^%g kidding me!" was the first impulse that ran through my brain!

The Journey Server has been running non stop for over 3 years! We need to change out the fans, blow out the dust, and move it from our old 1mb/100mb co-lo rack to our new private Rack which has a 10mb/100mb burst connection because of the huge load that is being put on it. That is all there is to this! The reason that it's going to take so long is that CJ and I have to drive to San Diego to pick up the server from our old data center and then make a mad dash back up to the Bay Area to install it in our new facility which has 10 times the bandwidth! Hardware and software issues prevent us from simply moving the data to a new box and avoiding the down time. Hopefully we will have time to have a quick visit with Mike (SkyLord) and Miles on our way down to San Diego!

It just cracks me up when I see the amount of crazy stuff that is being invented lately.

We are just cleaning up our machine and taking care of Biz people!

Thanks for listening and enjoy this year’s tour!

We should have the server back up by Saturday if all goes well.

Best regards to all!

P.S. I will not have time to respond to any posts you may make about this! Sorry, but I'm just too busy right now!

No need to respond and I agree that it was silly to think it was more than server issues. However, these are the types of things that happen when there is no word from the band on such a big and important issue. They have left everyone to second guess everything. No one's fault but Journey.

But again - people should not read more into things than needed. I agree.

Mark is probably right.
nevertheless, Steve is still lip synching and has done so since last years tour.
If Augeri had any class he'd step down.
Never thought he would do something like this.

Sorry to hear that things have got a bit crazy in regard to paranoid rantings, but there is an issue that needs to addressed and the band have left all the fans to fight it out,or try and find the truth for themselves. This rumour is destroying the bands credibility if its true or not.Paying customers are asking questions about the service/product they support, just an answer would be good?

Mark, I'm doing nothing more than commenting on how it looks. If you say it's simply for routine maintenance, I'll take your word for it and my apologies for perhaps jumping to conclusions.
