Please tell me what you think of Dean's Faithfully and DSB clip under "We Can End This Now".
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?a ... CD756F4125
Do you think Augeri sounds good?
Do you think he was "just sick"?
Do you think this is his voice now?
How can you say "He may have been a bit off, but gave the crowd 110%"? This was in a review on another board, as if they tried to put a positive spin on it.
What the heck? How can you support this type of PROFESSIONAL vocal performance? How can you chalk it up to "Loyalty"? How can you feel good about putting ANY positive spin on what we hear coming out of that man's mouth?

I've long been a big fan and supporter of Kansas. Steve Walsh, who used to have one of the better voices in the business, started having some real vocal problems in the late 80's. It got to the point that he sounded absolutely horrible, easily worse than any of the bootleg recordings I've heard of Journey with Augeri, including the one you linked to.
However, the Kansas situation is a lot different. As good as Walsh was, and I could make an argument that he was Perry's equal or close to it, Kansas has always been more about the music and musicians. On the other hand, Journey has typically been much more associated with the vocal legacy, like it or not, of Steve Perry. That's the big difference and why Journey will not be able to continue if Augeri's voice doesn't get a lot of rest and soon. They desperately need to take some time off from touring. In Walsh's case, getting off drugs and sobering up has really improved his voice and he's sounding better than he has at any time since the mid 80's.

Dude, when the entire board is thread after thread upon thread on it, when most of them are rehashes and redirects of the same shit, and when music threads are hijacked into tapegatdom it becomes enough. A lot of the crap can be contained into a few threads. And the number of people who've appeared here who seem to want some bullshit cause

to hitch their wagons to is a sick commentary on internet craziness. Some of you whackos who've crawled out of the woodwork have not posted a thing about anything but tapegate and "truth

" since registering. And You can't tell us to "don't read it if you don't like it" when every other thread that pops up is in the vein of "AUGERI SUPPORTERS: DON'T TELL US YOU STILL DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!" or when it threatens to go away "WHY IS THIS ISSUE BEING IGNORED?" The fact that that question needs to be asked should be its own answer.

I just want to know - because it HASN'T been answered, what people think about these recordings; The same people who have vehemently denied anything is wrong. They are deafly silent now.
These are the people I want to hear from. The people who adamantly said there is NOTHING WRONG with Steve's voice.
I just want to know what their spin is on this. Forget the tapes. Heck, just throw that out! This is a new topic - nothing to do with tapes (I will edit that out above).
How about the issue of "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. STEVE SOUNDS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!"
That is the reason I want to hear from these people.

Ummm.... "These people" would be the ones, as stated above for your reading pleasure, who said Steve sounds fantastic - there is nothing wrong with his voice.
I don't know how else to put it. That's who "these people" are.

The number of views vs. the number of replies tells the whole story.
"These people" are saying....... NOTHING!
They have no reply but silence. They hear it now, and don't have anything to say. He sounds like crap and they know it.

They're here at this site?
I know I thought and posted as much, that he sounded pretty strong on opening night. Really good in a bunch of places, less so in another bunch. That's considering he struggled considerably the opening night of Generations in Irvine and the opening night of the Under The Radar tours.

Red, at least you aren't afraid to get in the mix - I respect that.
I know that many people from other sites lurk - and are now registered - here.
I wonder what their thoughts are? Does their blind loyalty sweeten even this clip?

Red means these people don't post here, they post at BT or have left reviews there. Do you really think people who care about the band and are KoodAid drinkers are going to come here to the armpit of Journeydom to post

what are
you drinking? This board used to have other topics of discussion. It's sad when the regulars from here are berated for posting due to agenda conflicts with the self-annointed Top Dog.

Live life and light the fuse. Pit is buried today may he rest in peace and now back to your OCD programing. This place makes me sick. It's like that train wreck that killed three people earlier this year that Deano was driving. Guess he just can't stop driving some form of train into the crossroads of life. Better watch both ways on this track, eh?

Hmmm, still trying to figure out what you are getting at with this reply.

Maybe b/c you have not bothered at all to look into the usually informative archives of the forum since there's no tapegate there I guess. You'd understand, then.

Red, Monker and NIG will fill you in. Me, I'm going to shows and live my life. I'm sure Deano will tell you that it's posts like mine that keep his fires stoked and that the burning will commence at some future date

Regarding Augeri's voice and tapegate.
I don't know of another topic that COULD be discussed right now.
Steve's voice affects the tour. So, you can't talk about the tour without his voice coming up.
I suppose you could talk individually about the other guys, which would be in order. Heck, I love talking about Castronovo. HE CAN SING! (Ooops, there's that topic sneaking in there again).

I think everyone who is new here needs a little history lesson on the person behind this bullshit. Go read some archives. You won't be so quick to drink HIS Kool-Aid.

Knox, I remember your posts from BT where you admitted you were'nt a Augeri fan so why does it bother you what he sounds like if you don't like him??
I was at all the UK shows and can tell you there was nothing wrong with his performances, also bear in mind this is a guy who less than 6 months ago had pneumonia and believe me that does not just take weeks to recover from but MONTHS to fully recover

Maybe they didn't want to go to Chile? Maybe they couldn't wait to go to Hawaii instead? Maybe that just did what they wanted to do because they are big boys and can do just that? What does it matter to anyone but them why they had a change of plans?
Karen enjoyed the concert in the UK, Paul enjoyed the concert in the UK and a few others whose names I haven't looked up also enjoyed the concert in the UK. I'm glad they did. It gave me something to look forward to when the tour started in the states.
Getting beatup by the reviews? That would be the way YOU see it. I've seen both good and not so good reviews. You can spin a review ANY WAY YOU WANT. Point - counterpoint. Perryfaithful posted a poor review of Journey and LAWoman posted a great review of Journey - different views - same concert. Likes and Dislikes.
Bottom lines is...if you enjoy the band - you'll enjoy the music. If you want to get caught up in all the hoopla - then don't go.
Have a great day.

Ok fine...we get it...you feel lied to, and you feel it's not cool...other fans do not feel the same way...they just want to go hear the music, live or otherwise. and have a good time. Get off the high horse you are on and realize that it doesn't matter if everyone agrees with you. You have your truth and they have theirs.

Truth like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And yes you get to bitch, and by God you have done so, over and over and over and over, but you don't have a right to do so on Journey's property.
And after awhile people just tune you out when you say the same things over and over and over. So in the end your message, or your bitch, just becomes so much back round noise.
Bitching the right way and to the right people is a much more effective way of doing things.
