if lipsyncing is true

Postby jemhadar » Tue Jul 04, 2006 7:15 am

if the Journey lipsyncing is true, then i regard that to be the same as taking drugs as an athlete. i can't think of anything worse an artist can do to its fans if this is true. the fans pays their income and you cheat them by using singback?

...an athlete gets banned for two years if he/she gets cought doing drugs....

It's not really an analogous situation. Putting Journey aside, there are lots of big-ticket artists that are clearly lipsynching. I'd be fine with Britney or Madonna being banned for two years, but that's not how it works. You are paying for a show. If you don't want to see a show with lipsynching and you believe someone is, don't go to the show--that's your recourse.

Who are all those artists that ar lip-synching? Britney, Madonna, Roger Waters - who else? In the Britney and Madonna cases it's so obvious that I don't think they are trying to hide it.

Again, I don't think Augeri is out of breath due to the complex dance moves! 8)

According to Dean, Aerosmith and Def Leppard are "worse than Journey".

I am not the resident expert on lipsynching. If you check out what has been said in the phorum, lipsynching it is not unusual. So now the standard is not whether someone is lipsynching, but whether someone is "hiding" something? Has Madonna said she is lipsynching?

The original poster was making an analogy to sports, my point is that musical performance is not analogous to sports. Musical performance is not a competition like sports. The only "competition" is in ticket sales and your remedy if you believe someone is lipsynching and you have an issue with that, is to not buy a ticket. The recording end of music is something of a competition because awards are involved. Recording allows for all sorts of enhancements so, again, the sports analogy fails.

Quick correction.

Aerosmith is so ridiculous it's not even funny. Def Lippard used to, but they said the hell with it and sing in lower keys now, on a lot of tunes.

NO ONE, except Aerosmith is as bad as present day Journey.

No, when she was accused, she actually issued a statement saying she didn't. And I'll believe that, at least until August when I get to see her live and judge for myself. I don't know about Britney either but I saw Roger Waters use tapes myself last night.

But if it has been discussed before, drop me some names, please. Or point me to the correct thread. Do a search for "lip-sync" will only turn up a million or so posts. :)

Yeah, but how do you know if you're cheated? Should the posters read "Almost live" or "Almost on tour"?

I love music, i play in a band and use internet to read up on my favourites like Journey. And my point is that it is NOT live if they use singback, and i can't come up with anything worse an artist can do to his fans. (the athlete taking drug comparison)

If this is true, then Journey and the management has to admit it and explain to the fans what has been going on.

And if thay could do that and also set some pressure to the others like mentioned Aerosmith and Def Leppard. What could be better? Maybe this is a golden chance to turn this negativity to something positive?

Please excuse my english..

The art is not to get caught, almos all athletes have used one or more forbidden substances at a certain point in their career. Only the best cheaters won't get caught. Look at the tour de france that started this weekend.

In Journey's case, the only mistake they made is that they never took a break in between their extensive touring, Stevie's voice has suffered from this. They announces a sabbatical for 2006 last year but now they're touring again. If this continues Stevie will ruin his voice forever. Not many bands have toured as much as Journey did for the past 8 years, take a break from touring guys and come back stronger than ever before.

No, no, no... Come on people... "Almost all athletes" have not used forbidden substances and "most bands" do not use tapes. If you have proof they do, tell us. It's ridiculous to accuse all hard-working athletes and musicians in the world of cheating.

I think I posted on this before but it I think it deserves mentioning again , when Creed fans sued over a really lousy performance (singer was stoned) the courts ruled in favor of Creed simply because there are no guarantees for the quality of a live performance. I don't think the same priciples apply here. Axl Rose is notorious for screwing his fans over and with that thought in mind I'm not sure if I'd take the chance to go to a show of his. As much as I wanna see DL this tour I have decided not to go. Keep in mind the fans will make or break a band so it is a big deal.

I've seen a lot of people here pointing fingers at other artists saying everybody does it and I'm with Swepett, I don't believe that they do. I think it
s bantered about more to justify Journey doing it to make it seem ok. What Journey fan wants their favorite band lumped in with the likes of Ashley Simpson? What about Jon Cain's interview talking about integrity and conviction and Journey's legacy?
