Memories

I was at the very first show with Augeri. I thought it was kind of cool to be there, the very first show for the new singer of my favorite group.

Something tells me that Friday night's show might be a bit special for a lot of fans. Wish I could go.

If you are implying that there will be a new singer for Journey on Friday, I say you are dreaming. Something needs to happen, but it won;t be that and it won't be that fast.

First I don't want Augeri to leave, quit, be fired, what ever...........
Second they need to give Augeri time off, now or ASAP, or go back to "taped" help for the immediate future.
Third if the time off is now and they can not cancel, then deen needs to step up to the front and Smitty come back. This is a short term fix for two
fourth, take a year, get back then and see, if it looks good record a cd and go on tour. BUT GIVE AUGERI EVERY CHNACE HE DESERVES
fifth If four doesn't work out, then a new singer, be it Deen, Hugo, Jeremy, Kevin.

BUT, they need to give Augeri time to recover.-ERIC

I think so as well. We aren't going to hear anything about it from the band until about 7:30 Friday night. Then it will be "Ladies and gentlemen. Journey with..."

Jesus...If it was the 80's again, you people would have canned Perry two weeks into the ROR tour.

I'm not canning anybody. Don't blame me for any "hiring & firing" that might be going on.

I have no idea why you insist on ragging ROR or Perry on the tour, I saw them on it (Randy's funky outfit and all) and it rocked.....nuff' said.....

No, but in the quote above - you basicaly say they have given him all the chances he deserves. *I* am saying Perry deserved to finish out the ROR tour, even though his voice sounded like crap. Augeri deserves that same chance...if his voice is truly in as bad of shape as Perry's we'll know...and it won't be based on nothing but audience recorded bootlegs.

Quite honestly, I don't think it is...and too many people are assuming way too many things.

Monker and Ace - As you may soon see, just because you don't like the message, or the messenger, it doesn't mean either were wrong.

Now where did you get the idea I don't like your message since there isn't really one that defines anything :?:

I saw Journey on their very last ROR show (well, except for Alaska). His voice was excellent. In fact, I had seen them on the previous 2 tours and thought the 1986 shows were the best. I was not aware of any voice issues.

Now for the Strange Medicine tour, that I gues was different. I didn't hear any bad stuff, but he obviously cancelled, so.....

I think asking Augeri to "stay the course" would be a disservice to him. He needs the rest. But they could have done it in a much more classy way. Steve A took a lot of heat while he was around. He had to bear the brunt of all the Steve P fans. Journey could have handled this so much better. I feel for the guy.

And no - I don't think anyone is assuming way too much. The writing is on the wall. Friday may very well be a new era in Journey. I'm curious as to how they are going to spin it. I can either remain a fan, or write them off. They better show Augeri some love and come clean with the fans. If not, they lost me.

Fair enough. I can accept that.

But I guess I am speaking about all of the posts over the many weeks.

And, when what you believe to be a 'fact' is supported only by opinions, you may find that it isn't a fact at all...and all the things you extrapolate from it come crashing down.

You guys jump to conclusions WAY too early. People are already looking for Augeri's replacement, or the announcement of the disbanding of Journey...All based on some bootlegs and two weeks of touring. IMO, that's not much to base such a weighty conclusion.

You were saying?

Just yankin you Monker. I respect you guys for hanging in there. It's tough. I hope that's the one thing Journey has learned. Fans are dedicated on all sides. They allowed them to conitnue without the main draw, but they'll also call them on anything out of sorts.

I was there on june 9, 1998 as well. I had the pleasure to meet Steve that day, what a nice and humble man he is.
I hope he gets better soon. I wish I could be there friday as well when JSS will amaze everyone, this guy is a great singer and also a very nice person. I saw him few years ago at a solo show in Holland for maybe 50 people in the audience, and still he put up a very inspired 2 hour set. He's one of the hardest working vocalists in the music business.

I am never wrong. Once I thought I was, but I was mistaken. ;)

All I have to say is......WOW!
But I am glad to see it. Steve needed to get off the road. Now the only thing to wait and see, is if this becomes permanent or if it is temporary.
Abitaman, howya feelin'? I know you don't like JSS. But I gotta tell ya, I was listening to the Shepherds Bush Empire boot of SS and JSS is really good. He may not sing Journey like Perry or Steve, but he sings it well. And this definately would be the type of vocalist that can affect change in the band.

I am going to miss Steve, but I think it is going to be a good show. I feel so bad for him but it is a good move. I think I would feel better if they had just cancelled and "stood by" Steve. This tour will now test the waters to see if people are willing to stick by Journey through another lead singer change AND to see if they can change to a completely different style of singer.

What a mouthful or keyboard full there. They can't friggin win for some of us lunatics.

This move is ballsy, I give Schon and Cain credit....I'm curious as hell to see what chemistry develops especially w/ Cain.
