Report from Soundcheck in Bristow, VA

Postby AR » Sat Jul 08, 2006 8:32 am

I just got a cell phone call from a bud who will remain nameless. Reportedly Jeff Scott Soto sounded AMAZING at soundcheck. Other great things going on for me despite not going to the show. I'll be getting a Virginia Beach report as well.

Also get used to having Jeff Scott Soto around. Anyone that doesn't think this is permanent is kidding themselves.

I'm not surprised he sounds great! I just hope he doesn't blow his voice out trying to hit all those high notes. Why don't they tune those songs down a bit for comfort? Nobody is gonna hit those Perry notes night after night and I don't want them to damage Soto's voice. This could be a long and fruitful partnership if they let him be himself.

I think Deen will sing his 3 or 4 songs and Jon that crappy song Every Generation. That will ease Jeff's workload a bit. I expect him to win over fans in a big way. He'll make us forget about Augeri...wait, I already have. Welcome back good LIVE shows.

Thanks for the report. I have no doubt whatsoever in Jeff's ability, of course he sounded amazing and will continue to do so!!

Damn right. Augeri just got completely railroaded and it all started here with that Deano dude. I hope he's happy ... what kind of person gets their rocks off ruining someone's reputation??? A really sad loney jerk, that's who.

You all speak of JSS as the 2nd coming of Christ. Sorry, he's not. I don't agree with the entire situation, they should never have gone out on tour this year knowing what Mr. Augeri's health was like.

I'm done. Enjoy the Kool Aid.

I agree with your first paragraph. But who claims he is the second coming? He will add another dimension to their sound and a strong personality. Most of us hope Augie heals up and comes back strong.

Sure it was. Don't you see it? Somebody recently commented that Neal was actually smiling and looking like he was having fun with SS. JSS was making himself at home on the Journey forums....putting clips of himself doing Journey songs on his website.

I think Neal has been looking for an excuse to dump Augeri. He said in an interview that it was going to be a long tour, if Augeri didn't get his voice thing taken care of. I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner. The rumors have been circulating for over a year.

They didn't even get together to write Generations. Augeri was in freaking New York phoning in the vocals, wasn't he???

Neal is a heartless bastard.

He and Perry are close in tally with the asshole moves in this band.

Never looked at it that way, but you could be onto something. I know that whole Generations thing was a mess. I think Soto will bring something new to the table in the writing dept.

I think so, too. Jeff is a strong writer and seems to have more chemistry with Neal, IMO.

It might finally be an opportunity for the band to finally move on and start doing more new music.

Railroaded lmao wow thats a stretch !!!Steve A should've been man enough to stand up to Neal and tell him what was up!!!!But no they had to do the whole tapegate thing and they got caught like lil kids with there hands in the cookie jar!!!and as far as reputation Steve A is his own man and makes his own choices...this one was a bad one !!!and your to right about Jss i have the same opinion seeing him perform my self he's not bad don't get me wrong...but he's no steve a or steve p ...So lets let the Journey boys deal with what they have done to themselves... by there own choices...and see if they can deal with this with honesty and class to show us it's not all about the money.

I take it you also blame Bob Woodward for the Watergate scandal?

Could not agree more with the first part of what you are saying. I could add more to it, but it is done. I feel Neal has had this planned too, but that is another theory, and have to agree with most of your second part, BUT, JSS is not the second coming or close. I feel like this maybe the end of Augeri (Augeri may even know this, and maybe going with it), but Journey did him wrong , even if he is to come back. Neal maybe the greatest axe man on earth, but his way of appretiating his fans sucks. Get Augeri well, a year off, try it again, and then if he can't do it, get someone else. This sucks like the way Deano started everything up-ERIC
