Nice for them to tell the former singer that if they:
"Close your eyse, say Goodbye - Remember Me"
Journey on!
Thanks to all who have helped the band stay until 2006!

I've got the Journey/Def Lep show coming up next week. Truth is 99% of the concert goers could care less about who sings the songs as long as the band sounds good and the singer is 'in the ballpark' of Perry. Most still don't know he's not still in the band. Most people just want to go have a great time on a saturday night, drink a few brews, catch some great tunes and enjoy being out. The fact that Journey was off the touring circuit for 12 years sucked. At least Neal and Jon had Bad English for a couple of years in the meantime.
Along comes Augeri, who allowed them to tour again. He sounded enough like Perry to make the Journey experience real. Arrival turns out to be a great album and Generations ain't bad either. His voice starts to strain and people crap all over him after he gave 8 good years and several tours.
Enter Soto, who can sing mind you, and one concert and Augeri gets dropped like a bad habit. Maybe they were using tape back ups, but do you think Augeri masterminded it? In every interview I ever read about Augeri, he said he would gladly step aside if Perry ever wanted back and that Journey was a dream gig. Just imagine if you were in his shoes. Your dream gig could be taken at any time by a rock legend. Then your voice starts to crack and you can see the writing on the wall. On your way out, who do the people blame? You of course.
I will support JSS as singer, because the tickets were bought long ago and I too just want to have an enjoyable night out. But, I do thank Augeri for the time he spent in the band and the 3 outstanding shows I got to see him perform. I only hope JSS is recieved as well as Augeri was. I am a Journey fan first and the lead singer fan second in the end.

I agree that alot of people go just for a good time, a beer and a night out. I think we'd see a much larger crowd if the original line-up was still in place...even with the down time. That being a MOOT point any longer, I'll assure you that Neal would have Journey on the road and would have sold just as many tickets with or without Augeri. They wrote Arrival without him which was ironically the best of their 3 CD's. Anybody could have sung those songs and done that good of a job to get it released. They still had their Sony contract, so they would have had that promotion with any singer. Their decisions to try for a sound-alike approach actually did them more damage than good, because he lost a large faction of fans. Reading all these message boards, I haven't seen many Perryheads slicing and dicing Soto. It looks like some fans who dropped out of the Journey scene since Augeri joined are more interested now because Soto is a stronger talent with a bigger voice. If you can't have Perry, go with someone else strong enough vocally to not destroy their legacy. That's what I'm seeing. Soto is the right guy.
With the number of fans Soto has in Europe, if Journey DOES another studio CD, it will sell more than the piddly 15,000 units they sold with Generations. If they brought Augeri back by the end of the tour, it would be a HUGE mistake. How long could he last? A week, a month? Same goes for next tour. It's over for him in Journey. They better keep Soto interested and get off the greatest hits routine.

You could put Pee Wee Herman at the mic and they would love it.

Frist review at Journeymusic.com.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOLY CRAP!!!! I have seen journey like 6-7 times and that was the best BY FAR!!! I MEAN FAR!!! I really like SA and i have met him before..but that was a show that made me forget about S. Perry. JSS has great range and im sure others will agree with me..the songs sound much better with JSS singing. I always thought they had problems with the sound with SA but now i see it was just his voice was not powerful enough to cut through the music. JSS has the vocal power that S.perry had and you can really feel certain notes in you chest. GREAT SHOW!!! The rest of you reading the reviews will be blown away by JSS. I hope that he remains the lead singer for good! Sorry but you will be thinking the same thing after you see him. He is so much better as a front man. I think im gonna have to get on the road and catch another show!!!!
