How long...

This is NOT a BT bashing thread. Let's get that out there first.

I wonder how long until Journey's official website updates the pictures to replace Augeri with Soto? I understand they have to play the game of "We are waiting to see if he recovers", with all the people saying they can't wait for him to heal and come back.

Those of us with the opinion that Soto is the man now feel pretty strongly about it. It will be interesting to see when he is officially announced Journey's new singer, not just a fill in.

I think you hit the nail on the head. They KNOW Augeri is done. However, putting JSS's picture up there shows their hand. My guess is that they leave Fraugeri's picture up there and at the end of the tour announce that "because of........he is no longer able to sing and we've moved forward with JSS."

Good question, not until the end of the tour i would imagine, when they can decide if it will work with Jeff.I think it will be a very diffrent band with Jeff, more up with the times.Though for a lot of the lovesick Stevie fans on other boards a very difficult time.As it would seem a large amount of people expect him to recover and return to the band, which he may.Though i would be surprised to see him return 8)

I *really* hope Steve is going to return. I'll be bitterly disappointed if he doesn't. So, I guess you can lump me in with the "lovesick Steve Augeri fans". Like many others, I think he may have been replaced here with the way this went down, but I really really really hope not. I have to keep believing he is coming back for now.

I would think that if they are officially making a change, they won't do it until a while after the tour though. It would be too disrespectful to do otherwise.

I think that it is a slap in the face to JSS not to at least ADD his picture to the tour page. To only have Augeri's pic there is misleading.

Well the site is built in frames and Steve's picture is in the top frame that is the same frame showing for all pages of the site. It doesn't change page by page within the site. So, changing out the picture would be a big deal and would be a statement that Steve has been replaced for good.

As misleading as still using Perry's voice for concert promo's on the radio?

Should be simple enough to make the pics smaller and add one pic. To have Augeri's pic there suggests that he is touring...which he is not.

You seem to know an awful lot about how that website is constructed to have been so unaware that Augeri had been replaced and so new to posting on message forums.

Any GOOD or half decent graphic artist COULD replace all that stuff and have the page updated and uploaded in 5-10 minutes tops. IF they wanted that done over there.

Sure, they could add a picture -- but it would then show up on every page of the site -- not just the tour page -- because every page uses the top frame.

I have been a web developer for the last 8 years. In another thread, I made some comments to tragchk about graphics not showing up on her band's website. This is what I do for a living. I hope I can tell how a site is constructed easily. Anyone who knows a little bit about developing sites would know that site is in frames.

I'm not new to posting on message forums at all and I didn't say I was. I'm new to *this* forum. I usually don't post much on band forums. And I'm surprised I've posted a lot today here. I was feeling sort of welcome here up until a few minutes ago. :-)

You were the one complaining...in several threads...about not knowing that Augeri had been replaced, but yet you get your panties in a twist at the suggestion that the Official Journey Site be updated to reflect the current configuration of the band???

Sorry, as I said before, I'm starting to smell an agenda, and I don't think we need that here.

Agreed. But it would then show up on every page of the site because there is only one top frame with the pictures in it.

Now, they could really easily put some announcement at the top of the Tour Dates page that says "Jeff Scott Sote is replacing Steve Augeri as lead singer" and perhaps a picture of him there. I'm trying to think who did this before .. it wasn't for the lead singer .. but someone I saw had another artist sitting in on drums or something for 2 nights while whoever was normally in that spot for that tour was fulfilling other engagements -- I think it might have been Kenny Loggins -- and it was one of the guys playing with him that had other engagements for 2 nights. Anyway, they had a little blurb on the tour page with the "fill-in" person's photo and a link to his website bio page.

No, actually, I didn't get my "panties in a twist" about changing the site at all. I merely explained why JSS's picture couldn't be added to *just* the tour page (as someone suggested) without it changing the pictures on ALL the pages. Read what I wrote again and you will see that.

Actually the entire Journey site needs a major overhaul in my book!

As for leaving a picture of JSS off the site out of respect for Augeri..........ROTFLMAO!

Some more "keep everyone in the dark, keep everyone confused, keep everyone guessing" communication from the Journey camp! Put up the stuff, put up the pictures...GET CURRENT, GET REAL!!

I'm well aware of how frames work and the set-up over there. I'm a fan of frames to this day. But as we know, they have to want to do it. I don't see it happening. ya know?

Obvioiusly most artist's sites are built by outsiders who build them the way THEY want to build a site, not always the way a site should be built. Very few music artists build their own sites. (and you know I'm not talking about myspace either). If they did have a hand in anything other than saying yes, do it, or whatever, I don't care, or it's ok I can navigate it if I have to, then maybe sites would do this sort of thing.

siobhan222, I know you know what I'm getting at, but I'm afraid a good number of people here won't. Stick around keep posting, it get's better the more people take time to actually read all posts.

well that would suck if they did replace him with Jeff no offense but soul sirkus died out and thats all this band really is now I mean 3 out of 5 right?and neal has already dumped enough in to that hole to step away!So what is he hoping the journey fans will support soul sirkus now!!??

Oh? And where exactly has that been officially announced? Because nothing I've heard from the Journey camp makes that clear. In fact, the official Journey site says: "Jeff Scott Soto, who has previously performed with Journey guitarist Neal Schon, will assume the band’s lead singer duties starting with the July 7th show in Bristow, VA. Steve Augeri’s condition will be closely monitored by his physician to determine when he may be able to rejoin the tour." So, according to the official announcement, JSS is just assuming the role until Steve can return. That is the only official word out there. Now would it make sense for them to contradict themselves by replacing Steve's information and photo on the site with Jeff's?

And I'm the one with the agenda? Hmm.

Sorry, but you came in flying the Augeriville flag, calling Soto the "fill-in" bringing up dirt on Cain that you said Deano had and expect people who are actually reading your posts not to smell an agenda???

This forum has been peaceful. People here in general seem to like Soto or at least think he should be given a chance. People like you who keep coming in to "poke at stick at the snake" need to let it go. I believe you know exactly what I mean.

Steve's fan site is www.augeriville.com. That site usually has the latest on him so I'm sure once they get news, they will put it up there. At least, that's where I am checking for news.

Exactly so why try there luck again and and belittle the journey name sake! The 2 groups are like apples and oranges!!You can't really compare them so why make journey into it! Thats not there sound thats soul sirkus sound, all the original fans love the dirty dozen and perry era stuff thats an in general statement so the die hard fans no need to get up on your soap boxes lol...

I didn't say that. I said "I would think that if they are officially making a change, they won't do it until a while after the tour though. It would be too disrespectful to do otherwise." I meant disrespectful to the fans ... not Steve Augeri. In my opinion, they've already disrespected him. [/quote]

It would make perfect sense for the band's official site to make sure that the information regarding WHO is currently on tour with them in the lead singer role is posted so that the poor, unsuspecting people who drug themselves out of bed to see Augeri could be better informed.
