I'll be seeing Sammy August 4th. I've read nothing but great reviews in the press about this tour. Sounds like a bad night. How did he sound?

I've heard nothing but rave reviews either. I hope(although sorry about your show, Eric)that this is a one off night. I'm seeing him this Sunday.

Sammy sounded great, Anthony sounded great and Vic Johnson was amazing. The energy level was real high.

I'm surprised Sam still has a voice if ya consider the material he's done over the years. Nice to hear he's still rockin' though!

You make him sound like an alcoholic. Just because he drinks and owns a Tequila bottling company, doens't mean he drinks a lot. Even if he does, what's that got to do with anything?

Anytime I've seen Hagar live, he puts on a great LIVE show. That's what I'm there for. Some cities have curfews for when people have to be off stage. Maybe that's the reason, Eric? I don't know, I'm asking. From everything I've read so far, they're only doing about 20 songs total, between solo & The Other Half.

Yeah, I think most of it is a show as well. At least on stage. Years ago when he had the stage set up for people to be behind him friends of mine got back there and said he didn't drink at all. Personally, I think he tokes more then drinks! lol!

And that I have no problem with either Angie. If it helps him keep going at his age and producing what I think is good music and great concerts, I'm all for whatever he has to do to get that way. He doesn't dispute the fact that he tokes, either. In fact I think he's rather proud of it. ya know?
I think a lot of the Tequila talk is just that, to get interest in his expensive but quite good Tequila. He's a businessman, he wants this stuff to sell like any good bizman does.

Makes you wonder how much better his music would be if he'd lay off the stuff.

no need to make it a morals issue.

I didn't say he smokes all the time like the above poster implied he drinks a lot.

Or how much worse music from The Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin etc would be if they had never done it.

No - they ended well short of the 11pm curfew.....and they really ended before 10:30 if you take away the Birthday fucking Song and the Godamn Beastie Boy sing-along. He said at the beginning it would be a 3 hour show and it really wasn't even 2 hours....

20 songs is really not enough with no other act. Journey played 30+ last year with a similar kinda of setup...

Seriously, would guys be satisfied minus "Dreams" and "Eagles Fly"????

I don't know what you paid for your ticket, but the highest price ticket for the Shoreline in Mt. View was $50 and $10 for lawn seats. That's a hell of a deal for 2 hours of Sammy Hagar. Cut the guy some slack -- he's the most fan friendly rocker out there.

To be fair, his tequila is much, much better than any of his solo records.

I love the records he did with VH (especially Balance, probably my favorite VH record of all time) but other than a few singles here and there his solo career isn't all that great IMO. An amazing voice, but only occasionally does the material support it.

The Cabo Wabo tequila on the other hand, that's always good.

no offence, but yes. I think it's personal preference though. I don't expect much of anyone other than hearing the same songs over & over from Journey. With Sammy it's not always about just the hits.

Actually Whocares...I was dissapointed that he played only "Deeper Kinda Love" from his last 4 solo albums. I love Samy's solo more than his VH and especially more than Roth's VH. I would have died if he played "Winner Takes it all"

You had better stop being a dick to everyone's posts. I am getting pretty fucking sick of it. If you read my posts, you'd know they played fucking RAP at the end of a rock concert. That is WAY out of line. Rap makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm being a dick to everyone? yeah ok, whatever.

If that's the case then I fully support you reporting me to Andrew and having me banned.

Ahright...I'm sorry...but I am not a Greatest Hits man by any stretch of the imagination....and you did try to take a cheap shot via that route

Can you honestly say if you went to see a show that was supposed to start at 8 and didn't start until 8:40ish and then ended with no encore after a rap song and the Happy Birthday song at 10:40ish after it was advertised and Sammy said it would be a 3 hour show that you wouldn't have been dissapointed?

No forum on the Sammy site that I see...

Wow, Eric, sorry you were dissappointed with Sammy. Sounds like the show got started late.

I saw him on July 1st and absolutely loved it.

He started right on time at 8pm and went until 10:30, saying they had to end because of curfew, but never promised us a 3 hour show.

The Other Half threw in an unplanned Summers Nights because an audience member requested it, Very Cool of Sammy.
It wasn't on the set list, I was backstage and had a setlist right on front of me.

As for Fight For The Right To Party, Sammy's version wasn't rap at all, he definitely made it his own.

Sammy doesn't drink much on stage, it's just part of the show. He would take 1 sip and throw it the rest on the crowd or pour it into their cups. Hes' funny as hell and a great performer.

There is a forum on Sammy's site, Redrocker.com. The forum is called redheads. There may be some more info there on your particular show. Sounds like a one off.

First of all, I have NEVER been to a concert that has started on time. They are divas! They hit the stage when they feel like it. I also agree with Barb. I paid $40 for third row seats, I ain't gonna bitch about what the man sings. I would love to hear stuff like Rock Is In My Blood and Three Lock Box and Love Walks In, but again I'll take what Sam wants to sing. I'd like to hear Eagles Fly, but personally couldn't care less about hearing Dreams...it's never been one of my favorites.
