I have no problem with any words, as long as they are used intelligently or humorously.

People are way too easily offended. It's a word. Now...ideas can be offensive. But a word on its own is no different than any other.

The words are harmless and don't bother me at all unless they're thrown directly at someone in a personal attack.

I can over look them, don't like them. But personal attacks should be banned. But the longer you are here, the more you can get away with, to a certain point. Only thing I have a grip about on this site. Andrew is pretty cool about things, too cool sometimes-ERIC

have to agree, if it's F you, then it's not so neccesary (I've been guilty somewhat). But if you aren't able to type here the way you'd talk away from the boards then it get's very stale and sterile. This board is far from stale and sterile. There has the be some seperation between Church and Melodicrock. Meaning, what's one person's morals aren't always another person's morals. Doesn't mean they don't have morals. Some people mind the words and other people don't mind them, it's personal preference and thankfully we have the either say them or not, here.
As said above, some ideas are worse than the words. there's very little if any censorhip here, and that's what most people I think are here for.

Oh I know what you're saying and I agree. I don't mind the F-you comments because that's just the way some people talk. It's not a morality issue at all, more of a humanity one for me. The words themselves don't bother me. I was referring more to the all out blistering vulgar attacks directed at other people. That bothers me.

I never use curse words, so I don't type them either. Though I don't like to read them, but I can't tell others how to speak or type.
I don't look down on those who type like that here, but using the words over and over again cause them to lose meaning.
I have to admit, though... I have seen some pretty creative, and funny, words used in name calling. Yes, that's personal, but they made me laugh.

I dont have any moral issue with its.. how an argument or debate is going-- if the F word is being used.. then to me the intellect/credibilty go out the door. If f*** is the only way to gain attention then you lose what the main focus of the debate is. To me its also a case of maturity?? F*** is okay at 14-22---but after that it just sounds childish...

I am sort of the opposite, I cuss in person (depending on the company) but I rarely do it when writing/posting.
I used to be so bad about formal writing that I got a letter from a friend when I was in the 9th grade that said 'Do you realize that in all the letters you have sent me, you have never used a contraction?'.

I write on here pretty much the way I talk, but I know what you're saying about formal writing. I had to do a lot of technical writing in my work and when I was just starting out my boss had to remind me that I wasn't writing a Presidential speech.

Speaking of 'formal': the title is misspelled. It should read
vulgar.

I don't cuss a lot in person unless I am very mad or get hurt. When my kids were young and just learning to talk I made a concerted effort to clean up my speech. I rarely use a cuss word in a post.

That pisses (oops!) me off when I do that. I almost always go back and edit any grammar or spelling mistakes if I catch them.
Anyway...Yeah, the extreme cursing does kinda turn me off sometimes. Actually, it doesn't really bother me except for the F-bomb AND people taking the Lord's name in vain...That really ticks me off to no end. No reason at all for it.

And the board has been a lot more breathable because of it!
I don't mind curse words if used sparingly and not directed at others in a malicious way i.e. the way Deano uses them. I don't care if people say, "that sounded like shit" or "that was fucking awesome".

I have to confess that I found the following quote from Rockn'deano funny...From the "First negative point on Jeff" thread...
Rockn'deano wrote:Dude, let me be the first to say fuck yes, on your arrival into the band.
However, dude, lose that fuckin furry white hat! You are a rocker bro. Get that fucking cat off your dome, and rock.

And yet people thought DAVE was being mean?
Actually, that's not the kind of comments by Dean I meant, because he is obviously trying to joke there... more along the lines of his "is he joking?" homophobia, what he has posted about Frank M, and calling Ross a "fruity fucker".
