True, and I'm very glad.

But I still would like to know how it all happened, and how Journey went from a great live band to a great live band with a lip synching singer. I mean, really, how does that happen and who decides it? Basically, I'd just like some kind of explanation, even though it's passed. It's not something I can take lightly...like, "oh, they lip-synched a few shows." That's HUGE. I think there's more to the story, and it's Journey's fault for not setting the record straight themselves leaving people like Deano and others to spread information themselves.

It's all weird. No interviews, even for promotional purposes during a tour? No visit to their official site to talk to fans? (nothing new, though) No comment from Augeri (do his typing fingers need vocal rest, too?) to the people who were having a prayers for him? Nomatter what is said by any of them at this point will ring true, in my opinion. Anybody's reaction to something of this magnitude would be to speak out (type it on your website if nothing else). Neal would be so pissed if this was bogus, that he would have lashed out at everyone and everything in his path. Their silence (all of them) has already spoken. Soto has given them a bit of redemtion, since he can sing well live and isn't an unknown that they are trying to make into another Perry clone. That helped. What can any of them say, except more spin? They got caught and now they've corrected the problem. Don't expect them to own up. I think they will just all continue to keep quiet and play out the tour. They need to kiss Soto's ass nightly for stepping up. I'm taking in two shows just because of the vocalist change and can't wait! 8)

Maybe the guys have told Deano he has to get rid of it or else.

And IMO you are all making it more conspiratorial than it really is. I can actually say that if someone had been running around at the venue last night screaming anything about tapegate, holding up signs accusing Journey of whatever they wanted to accuse them of, NO ONE WOULD HAVE GIVEN A SH**. That crowd was there to listen to Journey and Def Lepard play their hits. PERIOD.

There were no news crews walking around asking anyone what they thought of any allegations that may have been made. No one was picketing the band. The few dozen or so that post here and at BT made it more personal and more problematic than it really was. It may have been personal and questionable to you but no doubt that the vast majority of people in the crowd last night could care less.

Journey On!

That's true, but if they had continued the lip-synching with Augeri at these shows, there would've been some media attention, I'm sure. Once they realized people had figured it out, they stopped...true, 90% of the audience is just there for the dirty dozen, but even they would've been pissed if they were watching a Milli Vanilli version. Luckily we won't have to see that embarassment, or have the band brought down even further by Augeri trying to sing despite having no voice left, but I do feel bad for the people in Europe who waited a long time to see them and only really saw 4/5 of a real concert.

I don't regret going to that gig in Edinburgh... even if all this shite has gone on here.

I don't feel sorry for those who saw Journey perform in Europe at all. The few people I know that attended enjoyed themselves and even when they read about tapegate never made an issue of it. And, I have the utmost respect for their opinions. They still enjoyed themselves. Do I understand your point of view? Yes, of course I do. Some people tend to make it more personal to themselves than others (and I don't necessarily mean that you are taking it personal, Walrus).

In the grand scheme of things it's not worth losing sleep over.

Anyone notice that Dean hasn't posted since Sunday? That and his blog is gone, when his last post on it basically said that some people on BT pissed him off so he was going to continue it and that it was war. I don't think there has been a day in the last 2 months that Dean hasn't posted.

It makes you wonder.

I hope Andrew finally made good on his threats and banned him.

The board feels much less stressful without him raving all the time.

I'm not losing sleep over it. My job does enough of that already.

I just know I would've felt really ripped off if I went to a show and found out the main element of the music was 95% fake. Sure, Neal and the band are playing really well, but Journey is a song-oriented band...Neal's solos really only represent maybe 15-20% of the show, it's all about the vocals and the melody. If the concerts were free, that'd be one thing, but people paid to see a live performance, and they didn't get one.

Deano stated on his blog that he was taking it down over the weekend after JSS joined. He said he'd keep it up through last weekend.

So that's it. No consipracy theory. He said he was going to take it down and he did since they've gone live.

Wrong, he actually posted an entry yesterday that announced it was staying up.

He never intended to take it down over the weekend, I'm willing to bet.

It does make you curious i must admit,on a positive note the band are live and by all accounts playing well. For Augeri it has ended on a sad note and i feel he will never be able to dodge questions regarding tapes.Having met him he came across as a genuine guy and real honest so any interviews with him should prove interesting.

As long as he's still on Journey's payroll I doubt he'll be doing any interviews or anything...but if he actually does get legally fired or "released" from his contract, once he's free of legal ties to the band he might have some things to say. That might be awhile from now though.
