You can say that again!

But thanks for sharing that, a treat to get a glimpse at what is happening at these shows. Any of JSS yet? This was nice not to have to get QT to work to see this

Great clip

yet again... it seems the answer is right there.... get Castro to do lead vox right thru... and get another drummer in... Im sure he knows all the songs anyway... the guy out Perry's Perry.... not much discernible difference in a live setting... the fans wld love it.... wish he wasnt such a good drummer...I realise he wont wanna give that up... but can such a class singer be behind that stool and not be used. In Journey ..the vocal sound is bigger than the band..... Schon is class.... but a hundred guitarists can play those licks... and you wld not tell em apart... not so the vox...yes there are some very good Perrymongers out there..Augeri was one of the best.... but you can always tell it aint Perry.... My vote is for Deeno to carry the vocal torch

That would be fine with (I think) most of us but he does not seem to WANT the frontman job.

I feel the same way (if Augeri's not coming back) - but Deen doesn't wanna do it. Loves drumming. Can't blame the guy.

And who knows if he COULD do it. Yeah, a song here and there. But a whole show? A whole week of shows?

There is also a video of Deen singing "Still They Ride" from 9/05 from Baltimore in the "Request a Live Song" Thread - page 10

I put the link here too.

Thanks for posting this. More Deen is always welcome. :)

Actually, that was what went through my mind at the show the other night. Why isn't Deen upfront singing and they just get a temporary drummer in -- until Steve Augeri comes back? (This was when I was clueless about everything and all I knew was I got to the show and discovered Steve had a "throat infection".) Or, how about Steve Smith on drums? What's he doing these days? I think fans would understand Deen as the temporary singer far faster than an outsider.

Deen supposedly had throat problems himself a while back so maybe he just doesn't want to do it. Who knows?

Hmm .. yeah but it looks like he's kinda playing around a bit with different bands ... but he's busy, I'll give him that. Well what about the guy who drummed for the ROR tour? I can't even remember his name Larry something, I think.

I don't know. Deen doesn't sound as close to Perry as people think. Same range, but different tonality. Augeri had more of the tonality.

I'd rather have JSS.

Smitty has stated that he wouldn't do Journey w/o Perry. He's not coming back.

Larry Loundin is dead if I remember correctly.

Didn't Mike Baird play drums on the ROR tour?

At any rate, Deen does not want to be a frontman.

I love Deen singing a couple of songs, but he really doesn't have a lot of power behind his voice. I don't think he'd do well as lead vocalist full time.

I agree.

Still, he's a great singer and one of the best drummers out there. Journey struck gold when they signed this guy on.

Forget the cameraman, I thought JSS was out of key on this one and I hated hated hated the way he did it. He cuts notes short that are supposed to be held longer and does that ... what is the word for it ... where he sort of adds in extra notes on words and makes them "wavy". Oh man, I'm brain dead that I can't remember the name for that. And then those crazy moves and facial expressions. Oooh that is a bad memory of Monday night for me.

Well I guess that takes Larry out of the running then!

But wait ... Smitty would come back if Perry was back? Weird ... wasn't it Perry who fired him?

Deen just kicks ass and he is so nice in person. I met him once in Reno in the hotel lobby and he gave me the biggest hug! He is so friendly and approachable -- makes you feel comfortable right away. When I drag my husband to Journey shows, he just watches Deen the whole time.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. I wasn't in Tampa, but I was in WPB and both my husband (who I just asked for an opinion again) and I thought Jeff was out of key several times, hit a lot of notes flat, and missed a lot of high notes. Sorry!
