Steve Perry in Vanhalen!

The biggest supergroup of all times would be Steve Perry in Vanhalen, since Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar are doing their own "The other half" thing and David Lee Roth Band are out on tour from time to time I think the 2 biggest ego´s Perry and Ed VH should do an album together and then play songs from both the VH and JRNY catalogue.
They need a bassplayer, any suggestions of a HUGE name?!
Hell I like this idea a lot,it´s crazy I know and it would be almost impossible to pull off but we´re talking about superheroes in the music biz so I think they could.
I mean anything can happen today with Soto in Journey,McAuley in Survivor etc.
And don´t give me that B-SHIT that Perry can´t sing coz we all know he´s capable of anything out of the ordinary.
He´s the fxxking VOICE GOD!

LOL...while that will never happen.....on paper that would be one VERY complicated band, with some serious personalities!

Kaj, that is one seriously funny idea! Can you imagine how that would go after about ONE rehearsal?
Hey, I don't care what Perry does, if he just does SOMETHING. I won't rag on the guy in any way as long as it is an honest effort and he is really singing! LOL

Sounds like a perfect scenario for spontaneous combustion to me.

Kaj: you don't want to hear it, but I'm sorry, I cannot for the life of me "hear" Perry singing the high notes on "Jump" for instance. I also can't see him "lowering" himself to join a band where all the songs are already in place.

A better Supergroup would be
Roger Hodgson
Trevor Rabin
John Helliwell
Simon Phillips
This would be YES meets Supertramp
Too bad Roger has bad managers and does not like to work much.

Perry and
anybody is a recipe for spontaneous combustion.....and eventual disaster, since his personality seems to conflict with whomever is in the room with him at the time.

When was actually the last time Steve Perry recorded anything? 1997?

1998."I Stand Alone",if you are talking about a solo effort.
The latest is 2004 - he recorded some lead and b-vox for David Pack on "Brand New Start".

Billy Sheehan, because he's played the songs, and he's a bassjack-of-all-trades, anyway.

Depends. Can they double on rhythm guitar and keys?
