Go out with some pride.

Ok, I've been thinking about Journey coming to an end. Lets face it, they've hit the bottom of the barrel. Never would I have thought they would be an opening act playing on 1/2 a stage. It reminds me when I seen BOC at the end of their career. It was painful.

JSS and Steve A are ok, but It's a glorified karaoke act. My hope is they take at least a year off and Invite Perry to do a Final tour. There is no doubt in my mind that if Perry got into rock n roll shape,he could pull it off. I'm talking about a monster tour, big sound, big production, big everything. Even if Perry is at 1/2 of what he once was, It's better than most. I think people would come out for this show.

For the love of god, go out with a little dignity. What's happening now is pathetic and embarrassing.

That would be a great idea if they could pull it off ...but i think there's way to many egos in the way for that to ever happen.and imo i think steve p could pull it off not like years gone by but for a guy who is his age that has had a lot of time to heal up and be well.I think he would suprise alot of people and i definetley think it would be a major draw given the right exposure !!

It would be the right way to go out, and a fan's dream come true. I do think that Perry, if he were to do it, would want it to be exactly that-a farewell tour. And I truly believe with this band, it would be. They could go out with class and leave everyone with a dream come true. That's how I felt about seeing KISS on the reunion tour. I had never gotten to see the original lineup and so that was quite the highlight. But they should've left it alone after that. A farewell tour should be exactly that-acknowledge your past, thank the fans for the many years of support and go out at the top of your game with the lineup that the majority of fans loved.

I for one am really jazzed about the seemingly re-energised JSS fronted Journey. However, a Steve Perry reunion would be off the chart!!!!

C'mon Steve...pretty please... :D

Unprovable, but I'd bet w/ all this that has been goin' down Neal's thought once or twice about it.

If by some miracle, he did come back - even if only for a studio release... I could just read the back-talk now...

those clowns would jump on that band wagon just like they did jss and disregaurd the flavor of the week. and then it would be all about "oh we've been waiting so long for this" and a whole lot of other crap they shell out over there.of course with a full glass of koolaid!!

Not for everyone. Knowing it would be the final album and tour would suck. Plus I don't want another TBF. Makes a great coaster, though.

The concept of a JSS-fronted Journey is more energizing than bringing back a worn-out Perry. Now, a solo CD from Perry might be nice.

It's what bands do even when they don't get along. It's all about the music. I'll never stop wanting to hear the magic again. How great would be a few TV specials with Perry and Journey, unplugged. A name change would be necessary. "Perry And Journey"
Neal would have to start performing like he remembered what melody meant and lay off the "Liberace" shtick.

A worn out Perry? I don't think so. It's painful to see them now. What's next, night clubs? They are way better than that.

Because SS was a hard rock SIDE project. Neal and Jon know what works for Journey fans.

If they did, I would be the first to say JSS must go. Journey with Augeri remained true to what Journey is all about. I am sure Neal and Jon made sure of that and will continue to do so.

Don't be so sure JSS will hang around. He has a pretty successful career already.

On second thought, with the bad vibes that the Journey name has gotten of late, it would be better to call it "Steve Perry and his Journey sidemen."

This is a funny thread. I for one, would not be interested in seeing Journey with Perry as frontman. THAT would be pathetic. I mean, Steve WAS one of rock's premiere singers in his day. Now? He's in his fifties, hasn't sung a note professionally for years (the humming he did on a few releases over the years doesn't count) and he has shown absolutely no interest in singing publically. To go to a concert where songs would be sung two full steps below their original key by a lead vocalist whose chops are nowhere near what they used to be is not exciting at all. THAT would be embarrassing and pathetic. It's obvious that Steve Perry has a good deal more sense than that, to even want to attempt it.

I remember shortly before Elvis died, he came to the town I lived in, in New York state. I talked with one of the women I worked with who saw him and asked if the concert was good. Her comment? Elvis was better than ever! Right. This is the guy who would lay down on stage, forget the words to songs, had pretty much lost his high range and sounded more like a warbler than the Elvis that we all once knew. I'm glad she enjoyed the concert though, but "better than ever"? Not even close.

If Perry came back to Journey, which I cannot imagine at all, that would signal the end of Journey for me. If it DID happen, it would seem as though they WERE only doing it for the money. Now, it simply seems as though they prefer to keep Journey's music alive.

I have to absolutely disagree that the current state of Journey is "pathetic." Far from it. They are consumate professionals and I think Soto's inclusion in the band gives it that much more of a musical edge.

Embarrassed by Journey? If they're are embarrassing, then stop listening to them and just put on the music when Steve Perry fronted. I mean, it's not as if you hold stock in Journey's corporation and the risk is that your stock is going to bottom out.

I'm not interested in a Journey with Perry and it would seem that neither is Steve Perry.

By the way, there used to be a Steve Perry forum on Andrew's space here. What happened to it?

No, not a joke. An acoustic Journey show? You are showing your age, granny.

The sidemen are kicking ass of late, while Perry continues to get older and older. Stings a bit, doesn't it?

To keep Journey music alive by lead vocal enhancement is hardly about the music, Fred. It's about money, pure and simple and lack of integrity.

Are you still picking on Elvis? He's going to start haunting your house. People still see him all over the place.

You're kidding right? They're already done. They would be doing it for the money? What are they doing now? Most of the time they look like manikins on stage. Queen just embarked on a very successful tour. Those guys are all pushing 60. I have the right to voice my opnion. If I want to or don't want too see them, It's my buisness.

As a matter of fact, I don't want to see them now. As for ticket sales, my guess is that DL is pulling the crowds in. They've been all over the place. Press,etc..

Listen, I love Journey, but I know they are way better than what they're doing now.

I don't want to see Willie Mays stumbling around in the outfield.

That is always the argument when Journey tours with someone else--that it's the other band or bands filling the seats (as with the Main Even tour). The truth is that neither band would sell as many seats without the other. Promoters know this and the bands know this. Journey has no trouble filling the seats with their "evening with Journey" tours either. They normally alternate--one year by themselves, one year with another band.

Again, if you don't want to see Journey, then don't see them. I don't see the need to criticize them or the people who want to see them. There are apparently plenty of people who still want to see them--that's my point. As long as they fill the seats, they will tour. They are musicians. That's what they do. It's their decision.

Still picking on him? Don't recall picking on him before. I used him as an example because he's so well known, that's all.

Of course it's about money. This is their JOB, their line of work. What I meant was that if Perry came back, it would be about a LOT of money (or so it would be assumed). I wouldn't be there at any of their concerts though. It wouldn't be worth it.
